Am I the only one who is rewinding the clocks in their head?

About how giddy and optimistic they were about Canada and what he will bring to the table?
It just really struck me reading the front page just now. Comes across as the Rant back then.
I honestly don’t understand how anyone can have any faith in this hiring process.
Canada wasn’t a fallback. He was the pick for O with a massive bankroll to give him a lot of choices. And it was a failure, in spite of all indications that he didn’t do or act any differently here than he did elsewhere.
Who’s to say the same thing won’t happen again? Or if whoever is picked won’t be stifled to do whatever O wants anyway.
By and large I’m rather “meh” about the whole thing, and burnt out on hoping next year magically things will be better.
How many OCs have we gone through in the past decade? And we had what, one season with a good QB/offense?
Why is Briles any different from that group?

I'd still be happy with Canada. However Briles' track record thus far has been pretty stellar.

Real reply is life has no guarantees. You view the options you think yield the best outcome for what you’re looking to achieve, and make a decision. There is no guarantee one way, or another, but you try to make the best decision you can with the info provided.

Brile's Resume>>Canada's resume

Yeah, they will have no effect on this hire

When was Matt Canada a coach at LSU?

Where do you people even come up with this shite? Everyone who even halfway paid attention to the coaching search knew that O was gunning for Kiffin from the start

By fallback I mean caught on his heels because no one wanted to come and we needed to get someone there ASAP.
Canada may not have been the FIRST choice, but it was definitely someone high on O’s list from the start.

I don't think he even made a list until Kiffen turned him down
I get what you're saying though...

Canada absolutely was O's "fallback/second choice".
O wanted Kiffin. And almost had him signed until FAU came knocking.

That must have been a real impressive cover page on the coordinator section of the Binder

By piecing together info from reading this board/rant, here’s what happened. I cannot confirm the authenticity.
1. O wanted Lane.
2. Lane goes to FAU.
3. O then says, “T-Derek,
find me a guy.”
4. DP googles coordinators, and this board shows up with Canada’s name being mentioned.
5. Fisticuffs over a red beans and rice recipe.
6. And now we are where we are.

Its the people trying o protect O. Now all of a sudden Canada sucked. Which means O made a terrible hire, but they wont even admit that. Its blame canada

It’s a good question. Here’s where I think things went wrong for Canada and O.
1. Oline transfers hurt the quality and depth of the Oline forcing some Frosh in.
2. Canada’s system takes some time to learn causing a slow start
3. QB was limited
4. The first 3 (along with a strangely hapless defense) helped cause MS State debacle and ensuing angry mob shook Orgeron (his seat heated up quicker than any other coaching hire would have because of his past failures)
5. Pressure got to O and he meddled with the offense against Troy.
6. Some things must have been said that can’t be unsaid and people are being immature by not getting over it.
or
1. Orgeron just doesn’t like Canada’s offense.
I think Canada would do fine here next season. The system is no longer new, the Oline will be more talented and experienced, and the QB won’t be physically limited. But what do I know?

Technically he was. Remember O’s plan was to bring in Kiffin.
