Its refreshing to get honest oqpinions of a coach. Just as i was a former football player highschool and JUCO is what i base my opinions on. Those experiences. My hat is off to you coach well said.

so when it comes to being a head coach we can't include his interim record because as the o haters have said many times "running a program and being interim coach are not the same thing"...but when it comes to recruiting it is different? why? why wouldn't yall say "well his first real recruiting year will be next year when he has had total control of the program"?

you are freaking kidding?

The first year reason is when a new coach comes in from the outside. Miles was hired in January at a new school where he didn't recruit. Had to hire a new staff and still managed to flip the biggest recruit in the state that was committed elsewhere.

O was the freaking RECRUITING COORDINATOR at LSU. Because he was the Interim he had 2 months before being named full time coach.

This is a total dumpster fire and that was easy to predict.

And that would have gone against one of the things that was considered as an attribute of O right out the gate, even though this would have eventually happened down the road....continuity.

But in fairness, if Aranda left, we'd all be using that as evidence of the sinking ship. Hell, people were doing that when it was just rumors.

So we got him to stay, and now that can't be used as a chip to show that we did something right?

Some people simply aren't viewing this from an unbiased perspective, is all.

Everything has pointed to kiffin being the top choice for O. All media reports consistently had kiffin at the top of our list, while mentioning guys like helfrich having interest in the job.
Again, media reports. How have those reports and when things were pointing one way(think Herman), how'd those end up?

Remember Les Miles to Michigan in 2007? Again, why in the world would you take any of those as fact?

Kiffin finally gets his HC job and just now we have Canada meeting with us tomorrow, even though it's been 2 weeks since the end of the regular season. You think that's just a coincidence?

Actually, the latest reports were Kiffin/Canada/Sark/Helfrich. So we don't get Kiffin. Even if he was our top option, it sounds like we're focused on other great options, so why the panic?

Recruiting isn't as easy as people think. The state is loaded but you have to give them a reason to want to play at your school. Unless the kid grew up in purple and gold and plays DB, you can't just "lock down the state."

You have to be a professional. If there isn't a vision to sell these kids, they'll see through it.

This waiting around for Kiffin has made me even more negative about the situation. Again, our complaints have always been on the offense...what do we do? Hire a DL and immediately put the QBs we have committed in the undecided category.

We get what we deserve.

People thought all you have to do is put a recruiting dynamo in as HC and start counting the championships. So naïve.

"Saban wins because he stacks up all of the talent."

No, Saban wins because all of the best kids want to play for a great coach. The stacking up of recruits is a side effect of his greatness.

The great coach part comes first, not selling recruits on a bunch of malarkey and catchphrases.

and all of this was said before we hired O, we saw this coming but at damn million dollar AD couldnt see it.. unreal..

Dinardo arguably did that with biggest recruit ever at LSU...until LF. Your point is?

A few guys change their mind, not even committing elsewhere and this is a dumpster fire? Are you saying that over CLM tenure we never had players flip? We never lost big name in state recruits?

Because it's been literally everyone saying kiffin was the #1 guy. None of those other reports had consensus like this.

well Faulk wasn't actually committed but that's another good one and my point pal is that you trying to make excuses for by by saying "he hasn't been here a full year" is incredibly lame because it is not the same situation given he was ALREADY on the job and has in fact the recruiting coordinator before taking over

quote:

All the commitments we had were based on who the Recruiting coordinator at LSU was?

Jesus pal, no offense but do you not understand the point or are you so far up Coach O's butt you can see Derek Pomansky?

Because he was the RC AND the IHC, the "excuse" that he didn't have a full year to recruit there for his first class will be down DOES NOT APPLY.

It is not "hypocrisy" as you were claiming above, because the situation is different. We use example to clarify points, but you seem to take every thing literally. Like well if this applies to that guy, then it must apply to everyone. It doesn't work that way, all situations are different and one of the big selling points on O were his recruiting ability and continuity for this class. 0-2 so far.

quote:

A few guys change their mind, not even committing elsewhere and this is a dumpster fire

Since O was hired, the top remaining player in the state committed to Bama. We offered a QB committed to Bama that had ZERO intentions of coming here and in the process have seen both of our QB commits start looking around. So, yes, considering QB has been a major issue and we need LBs that's pretty much a dumpster fire.

no this is Irony chief. It is pretty clear if you look the post of yours that I replied to and my response to it who does and does not get the other one's point. I'll give you a hint I get it

Put simply the "he hasn't been here a year" rationale for a down class after a new coach takes over do not apply when you promote someone from the staff. But more so when the person promoted as recruiting coordinator and Interim HC for 2 months.

The IHC record is not as important and that has been explained ad nauseum.
