A "good" black coach at a Southern powerhouse would wreck shop

The Mike Tomlin thread got me thinking. Has there ever been a good black head coach at a major southern school?

Croom, Taggart, Shannon, Strong, Sumlin...they all sucked.

Franklin is the best I can think of but he was at a terrible football school.

All the others are out west or North. Shaw, Edwards, Babers, Tucker, Locksley.

If and when a top SEC or ACC school get the right guy, I could see total recruiting domination.

Tomlin would get any recruit he wanted at LSU.

If and when, a major school ever

Props for trying *some* subtlety. I'll give this troll a 6/10.

Pretty sure there is a "good" white coach already wrecking shop in the South. Arguably there are 3 of them. Race matters none at all.

You only find out who sucks after you hire them

Strong had a much better resume than any coach being considered by LSU, and went to a school with more resources than LSU, yet . . . .

Duh. I'm just saying when a school makes the right hire, they could dominate.

Go away you troll. Taggart would be a absolutely terrible hire.

Players want to play for a winner. Not a black guy or a white guy or a green guy. Race stuff is overblown in the news more than it really is.

There are also 0 black coaches in the SEC to compete with them.

Recruiting is about relating to recruits. Clearly white coaches can do that, but it’s all relative. Could a black coach do that better with black recruits?

You are an absolute dunce, if this is a sincere post. All of those coaches were considered "good" when they were hired, yet none of them even came close to dominating recruiting.

This is so stupid.

How about just get a great coach and wreck shop at LSU.

So, based on the OP’s logic, Mel Tucker should be out recruiting Michigan & Ohio State, right?

Being black does not equal recruiting dominance...no matter school or location.
