Where are you hearing this? Not doubting..... love it if true. Just spoke with a VOL friend who is “in the know”..... he said nothing is out there official yet. He maintains that Frost is still in the running with legitimate interest????

Would definitely be a great hire.

He'd be the only guy that could legit compete with Saban. Maybe Patterson could occasionally win a TSIO , but it would still be lopsided.

Petersen wouldn't be Saban, but he's as close as we could get.

Currently on an 11 game losing streak to Alabama. Hires coach with 0-9 record versus Alabama for $7 million a year.

Who has beat Alabama in the past 5 years?

Dabo - not leaving
Stoops - not coaching
Urban- not leaving
Freeze - Lol
Malzahn - Lol

Another name to watch, this is gonna sound bizarre, but this is from a very reliable sauce, is Doug Marrone.

He's wanted to coach at Tennessee forever, and has reached out to us again.

He is a good coach but he has done nothing to warrant that amount of money.

That's why I don't believe it. But then again, it is Tennessee, and we find a way to out-derp our previous derps that were once thought to be the pinnacle of derps, until we derp harder and reach unprecedented derp.

It's what we do lately.

What makes you think Peterson would leave Washington?

Long time insider who is more known for doom and gloom than anything else name dropped him. It's still probably a long shot but it's def. worth exploring. He'd get a huge pay bump.

Maybe it is because I do not want Merlins, but the timeline does not match up in my head.

Per back channels, Currie is supposed to be interviewing him today. Aren't there also rumors that the hire will be announced Sunday? Seems like a very quick turn around. But, who knows what Currie has really been doing the last week or so.

I assume we would have to give him a monster buy out too. Too much for the Hunchback of Starkville Mississippi imo.

Doug Marrone

Why does he want to get back in college? Or just hates it in the nfl?

Iirc he was on Fulmers staff in the early 2000s for a short stint. So could be his "dream school". Which is cool.

Seems UT is looking at throwing around big money that is up in the nfl range now, so thats interesting.

I'm sure if it has truly gotten this far along, Currie and Sexton must have been talking for a while now. At least, I think that's how this stuff goes on behind the scenes

Well, coaching searches are the sports' version of Dynasty+As the World Turns (at least Vol searches). They're hella fun.

As for Petersen... I don't think he gets the athletes he'd get if he were in the SEC. The California schools always get first pick and Washington is competing with Oregon for the rest. He's made a living off of turning 2-3*s into world beaters so imagining what he could do with 4 and 5*s is pretty crazy.

Yeah, if all the rumors are true that had to have been how it went down.

Oh well, if it is true I am looking forward to the rare VOL/MSU double combo melt on Sunday.

You shouldn't have to overpay to get a coach from Miss. St.

yeah, would be scary, I'd definitely lay the 7 million on the table for him.
