At the very least make him say no. He’s as good as it gets outside of Saban and Urban.

Is Jimbo to Aggies gaining any traction, WCA? I have not been following that at all

This is why UT will never be good at football again.

well, if it is true I am looking forward to the rare VOL/MSU double combo melt on Sunday.

You won't get a melt from State fans, at least from most of us. I think he's a good coach and if love to keep him. Before last night I was good with bumping him to $5- $5.5 mil, but this makes 3 out of 4 years he had his team completely unprepared to play the in-state rival. The only one of the four games he won was last year when we weren't supposed to. I'd say $4.5 mil is about right for him. If it comes down to negotiations I'd him we will give you a significant increase for the assistant pool this year and look at possibly doing this for you after next season, if performance supports it.

Y'all know absolutely nothing about Chris Peterson if y'all think there's even a .0000001 chance he leaves Washington

He's made a living off of turning 2-3*s into world beaters so imagining what he could do with 4 and 5*s is pretty crazy.

True, but can Peterson handle what southern 4/5*s? All it takes? He'll be like Wilcox that couldnt get out of the south fast enough.

I dont know why Peterson keeps coming up. The guy spent like 1 year east of the rockies in his career/life. And at Pitt. I think he even grew up a UW fan, so could be his dream school.

He would hate the SEC, and it's fans. His family would want out. Gets pd like 4mil+ a year to be at his pinnicle.

From an xs and os player dev perspective you cant find a better "sure thing". Everything else that goes along with it off the field he will have a culture shock that makes him not worth it. Huge gamble.

Why does he want to get back in college? Or just hates it in the nfl?

Just to be clear, Currie didn't reach out to him, as crazy as it sounds, HE reached out to US.

He's been trying to become our coach since 2008, wasn't on the radar back then. And Hyams said that if we didn't poach Jones from Colorado at the last minute in 2012, Marrone would have likely gotten the job. Hard to believe that Lyle was higher on the board than Marrone, but it happened.

I know, it makes absolutely no sense to me either, but he's let it be known that he is still interested in the job.

He passed up a ton of big boy jobs while at Boise until his dream job came open

He also has a special needs (health problem) son who has the best doctors in the world for his sons condition in the northwest

You've got a better shot at pulling Saban

"Cause my school, and town are better than any other."

I would even put money on bama not being able to pull him away from UW. The guy is done floating around, and you can add all the stuff msu fans say about why mullin will stay AND will fit better in the "Peterson/UW" marriage.

Yeah if he leaves the NFL in the middle of a playoff run season, it won't be a good look. I doubt I would send my kid to him at a college program if he is willing to just leave the highest level of football high and dry during a success period. frick that.

If he plays the msg right he should be fine with families. Spin it where he couldnt pass up the oppurtunity to come back to the college game that he truly loves yadda yadda yadda AND he didnt have to leave the nfl cause he failed either.

If petrino can do it anyone can.

Now does he burn NFL connections? Who knows, but people leave jobs everyday when they realize it's not always greener on the other side. Just cant keep doing it.

I can't see it happening either, regardless of the mutual interest. The timeline doesn't work, and there's no way we risk waiting for the NFL season to end.

I knew it was out of control years ago but Jesus this absurd. What exactly is the eventual breaking point for salaries, particularly of non elite coaches?? Will it ever hit a wall?

Maybe so. Still just sits wrong with me. Would be a good hire for the Vols though.

Have been told this AM #MissState is set to step up and go all in to keep Dan Mullen at MSU, making an even bigger commitment to him and to his staff.

The early signing period has just added more fuel to it. i wonder if we will see coaches leaving mid-season for other jobs in the not to distant future.
