Sanderson has said in multiple youtube streams he doesn’t need tv/movie money so he can choose to be as picky as he wants to when chosen who/what to adapt. Sounds like Mistborn will be on the screen sooner rather than later. Enjoy the next rest of the books. Book 2 and 3 are up there with best books I’ve ever read.

Holy shite. I can’t wait to finish the trilogy.
Welcome to the Cosmere. Though it's not a trilogy... If you're not aware, Sanderson's Cosmere are books that take place on different planets in the same universe. As he releases more books, we find out more and more how these places/characters are interconnected.

Gotcha. Yeah Stormlight is supposed to be his masterpiece. You're in for a treat imo, for me Way of Kings was 9/10. I'd rate Words of Radiance an 11/10.

That’s intentional. Sanderson has said that it takes a tremendous amount of time and effort to write because of all of the detail. It also takes time and effort to read for the same reason. He doesn’t want all of his works to be that way, but he views Stormlight to be his masterworks.

We are about to finish Oathbringer on Audible right now.

Book 1 was great, and I know a lot of people love the whole series. For me, the more the “Cosmere” comes into play in the later books and the more time spent in Shadesmar (a place which still makes no sense to me), the less I’ve enjoyed them. The last one Rhythm of War was a struggle for me to get through. The Cosmere deep cuts in The Lost Metal were also the worst parts of that book, and completely unnecessary. JMO, I know I’m probably in the minority here.

I feel the same. I don't really understand it.

I haven't read Stormlight yet. I was saving it for when I finished Mistborn Era 2. Unfortunately, Stormlight is required to understand WTF is happening in Lost Metal. My enjoyment of that book was completely tanked by this.
Like I understand it, but I would prefer if the series weren't so blatently Cosmere(ish). I would prefer a separate series that I could skip should I feel like it.

I'm midway through the third book now. While it is great, it's not the best fiction I have read. Actually I still prefer Mistborn, and that first trilogy (haven't read the others yet) is actually my favorite fantasy series of all time. It's up there with favorite book(s) of all time for me.
I am loving the Stormlight journey though. I just wish Kaladin wasn't so morose all the time. He's too similar to Drizzt. He's a good character, but it gets a bit annoying at points

Same exact journey (other than I read Mistborn Era 1 a long while ago and just now finished Era 2). The Cosmwere stuff is... I don't know. Fine? Maybe it will grow on me after reading Stormlight, but I definitely found it to be just sort of a confusing sidetrack in the Lost Metal.

Huge mistake reading Lost Metal before Stormlight.

Same. I still love the Stormlight books but the earlier books, when it was political backstabbing and whatnot, were more compelling than the later books which become more…high fantasy? And yeah Shadesmar is a total drag to me.
I’m halfway through Warbreaker and loving it. Will likely do Mistborn next.

I've gotten many of my friends into Sanderson. I always recommend to them to read in publication order their first time through. In the beginning, it's fine to mix the order between Mistborn era 1, Elantris, Warbreaker and the first couple Stormlight books.
After that, the connections in the Cosmere start to become more significant as you have found. Sanderson wants his worlds/stories to intersect.
So you can't ignore the other pieces of the story; granted this isn't clear to new readers. I've been reading Sanderson since 2012, so I've been following publication order since then.
The order he is writing the books in is not trivial for the most part (like the Secret Projects). It can't be given the scope of what he is planning. Even reading in order, you won't catch everything. I've spent hours reading the Coppermind wiki to see the things I've missed.
Also, don't skip the short stories. There are some significant details in those.
If you don't like the shared universe, then you might want to try his other works that aren't based in the Cosmere. I read the Skyward series last summer and liked it alot.

Way of Kings is also my favorite Fantasy book I've ever read. I'll probably re-read at end of year or early next year.

Freakin love the Stormlight series. Way of Kings was so great the first read with Kaladin on the bridge crew.

Shallan is why I can’t finish the book 4. Her multiple personalities are all bad
