Slowly catching up - one thread page 99.
But damn I just want to get involved here.
Littlefinger lives in the inpenetrable sky mountain fortress.
Is there any doubt that at some point dragons will have to attack said fortress? Why else have an inpenetrable sky fortress in the story?
This presumes (unless other adulst dragons awake) that Dany will be up against Littlefinger (or Sansa) in the future.
Trying to figure out what would cause that type of action - Littlefinger is not likely to make an overt play and get noticed by Dany unless he thinks he has every little detail already handled.
Is he at the public forefront before Dany arrives? Hope it doesn't take her that long to get to Westeros.

I think littlefinger will die by his own game. Sansa will eventually get the better of him Imo

I think you're on to something here.

Wouldnt need dragons to take The Eyrie. The Arryns themselves would descend to The Gates of the Moon to escape the frozen winds above in Winter.
A solid siege would starve em out or freeze em out easily.

The Vale has one of the only two fresh armies in Westeros. You've got to think that any army would have to defeat the vale in the field before they ever hoped to mount a siege on the eyrie.

Isn't it known that The Eyrie has NEVER been taken?
Pretty likely that someone has attempted to starve them our during a winter before, and failed obviously.
And like Cotton said, their army is fresh and probably itching to get into the fight.
Almost positive it would be more difficult than you're making it out to be.
I like the idea of dragons besieging the fortress in the sky

Think I cracked another thing. When Varys says he gets his information from his 'little birds', I am thinking what he really is saying is he is tied into what greenseer Bloodraven can see and communicate.

Highly doubt it.

Thanks for hating on my crackpot idea. Could you please provide some type of reason for your objection.

I just think they it's just as simple as it appears.

His little birds are all over the Seven Kingdoms. Inconsequential people that are privy to information. Stewards, Chamber Maids, Cooks and the like. For a little coin they sing like birds.

You mean other than the fact you get to see the little birds in person during the final pages of ADWD when they help Varys kill Kevan Lannister?
Or perhaps that Illyrio described in detail how he and Varys built up their secrets empire using Varys' recruited little spies.

The Vale army was not what a part of the equation.
I was speaking to the argument that The Eyrie is "impenetrable" in and of itself, only open to attack from above, ie dragons.
Not that watching the Sky Cells melt wouldn't be EPIC....
And I think the adjective was "impregnable"
Many can be penetrated but not impregnated.
It is known.

I don't even know what is going on in this thread after that.

Apparently The Eyrie has had it's tubes tied so we won't have to worry about it getting impregnated if it gets raped by Dany's dragons. Glad we've got that cleared up for us.

There has been something bugging me:
Why did Robert let Balon live after Balon's failed rebellion? He should have shortened him by a head or at lest made him take the black and other major people involved in the rebellion. The only thing they did was keep his son as hostage in Winterfell a place not too far from the Iron Islands. The only thing Robert did was encourage others to plot against him.

He was a dumbass. Honestly, the most surprising thing is Tywin not having them killed after the Lannister fleet was burned.

The only reason that makes sense is to maintain a balance of power with the Lannisters. A large, combat ready fleet on Tywin's doorstep might have seemed a good idea at the time.
