Trent Richardson's Family & Friends Spent $1.6M Of his money In 10-Months
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
ESPN’s Shelley Smith did a piece on NFL RB and former Alabama player Trent Richardson for “E:60” that revealed his family and friends spent $1.6 million of his money in a period between January 2015 and October in 2015. The former No. 3 overall pick discovered that people were using his name to open accounts with Netflix (11 of them) and Hulu (eight) and would even order bottle service by dropping his name at clubs. Per Yahoo!...
quote:

“I finally just looked at my bank statement, and I was just like, ‘Where did this come from? Where did that come from?'” Richardson said. “And my guy was sitting there telling me, ‘Man, we was telling you.’ I know he was telling me, but that’s just like telling a kid to stop running in the hall. They’re going to still do it when you turn your back or you leave.

“It’s just one of them moments to where I was just blinded by my heart, by loving everybody and thinking that everyone was for me. I know they love me. I know they do care. But at the time, they took advantage of it.”
Richardson signed a fully-guaranteed deal worth $20.5 million over four years with the Browns in July 2012. However, he did tell ESPN that he's not broke yet and can support his immediate family but did have to remove his brother as a $100,000-a-year personal assistant.
quote:

“He’s such a good guy,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “He’s such a good person, and he wants to please everyone. And I think sometimes when guys have that personality, which is a great personality to have, it makes it very difficult to disappoint anyone with the word ‘No.'”
Dang. He also just got released by the Ravens a couple of weeks ago.

is it bad that i DON'T feel sorry for him? he was repeatedly warned, and I'm sure at the Rookie Symposium they teach them a little finance and how to be frugal, to a point.... dude has made more money in his short, shitty career than i will in my entire career if i work until i'm 60...

"remove his brother as a $100,000-a-year personal assistant." fricking hell. Hopefully he gets it together.

Feels sorry for the guy. My 10 year old son was at the Alabama A game this year (we're no fans, but a friend invited him). He shows up in a Saints hat with 22 on the back, and a Mark Ingram jersey, hoping to meet his favorite Saints player. He finally got in the tent where Ingram was and old Mark acted like it was a huge hassle to take a picture with a little kid fan (keep in mind that's what he's there for). Sat behind his table, didn't smile, and gave some lame thumbs up. Richardson on the other hand, gets out of his chair, puts his arm around my son, and takes a picture with a big smile on his face. Made my boys day, and he didn't even like Trent going into that day. Richardson is a good guy that probably trusted too much and was taken advantage of. Agree, not the smartest thing to do, but well intentioned. Ingram is a piece of shite.

Dumbass kid that did not listen to his NFL counselors regarding his finances. Yep, they have mandatory sessions and in his case, it would have been 'one on one' with the kind of money he is guaranteed. You know the saying about 'taking the kid out of ------but can take the ----out of the kid. SAD..........

He'll be broke by 2020. Such a common tale for athletes. I fund it funny for all their athletic ability, they're dumb as fricking rock when it comes to anything else.

One thing about pro athletes, they, and their leaches, stymulate the economy..... maybe that has something to do with paying them so much...

These guys are not even smart enough to realize that they need to educate themselves on how to handle suddenly being filthy rich.

Look up "The Lottery Curse". He earned it with his running in college football though unlike the rest of us who wish to win with buying a ticket. Unfortunately, the athletes that get a big contract or targets of their nefarious relatives and "friends".
