Sources: LSU special teams coordinator Brian Polian is transitioning to an off-field role at LSU where he’ll help manage the roster, NIL and the transfer portal in a GM-type role. With that move, LSU is searching for a new special teams coach.

This is great news. Polian will provide a lot of value to the program in a GM-esque role. This allows Coach Chris to step back on the field and develop our next round of Championship caliber specialists. I think they are confident that Kelly can lure him back from the NFL.
Do yall think there is any way Kelly can get Coach Chris back as a special teams analyst?
Part of me thinks he sticks with the Detroit Lions and doesnt return to the college game anytime soon
Storz may have to be on scholarship? Not sure, but he came to LSU via a baseball scholly.

Payne and Francioni were awarded scholarships last year with Mashburn and Nick Demas (RB). Not sure how these are being honored moving forward

Corren Norman is a nice contributor, he has already lettered twice at LSU.
Curious as to how the walkon/scholarship situation is right now and moving forward.

Josh Williams was awarded a scholarship a couple years ago, assume he is still on scholarship and counts towards the 85.

Last fall, Jack Mashburn, Spencer Payne, Nick Demas, and Evan Francioni were awarded scholarships.

Does Nick Storz have to count towards the 85 since he originally came in on a baseball scholarship? Not sure, as his situation is far from standard.

My guess is all these guys are on scholarship??
We are currently under the 85, and will have some additional attrition. Several players have been out all spring, and there will be natural movement over the coming months as well.

Edit: add Jared Small too, was put on scholly a few years back

I wouldn't count Anthony bradford out if he gets his weight down.

It will be a battle at guard between frazier, shorts, bradford, and dellinger.

Bradford has been out all spring.

Are him and Perry injured? Will they be on the team in the fall?

There are close to half a dozen others without reported injures that have been out all spring.
Does anyone know why Josh White was not able to play in any games this year? He appeared in all 10 last year.

Almost the same question for Sampah. He only appeared against McNease and Central Michigan this year.

Is Jared Small done? Or still with the team?
Exactly. Likely some derivatives of three lineman, an edge, a couple backers, and five backs

Buddy of mine from church said that Peyton Todd is likely to hit the portal this off-season is Coach Chris is not retained.

This draws comparison to what the Raiders are doing with Bisaccia, promoting their go to special teams guy. Brings the energy, as well as the team together.

Or like John Fassel taking over the Rams from Fisher.

We were lucky this offseason to keep this guy. He interviewed with Dan Campbell and staff in Detroit.
Whats the downside other than expense ratio?
Where is he now?
Did he play two years at Tyler and now is sitting out a year? eligibility clock is ticking
The plan is for him to come to LSU but not this season?
We are fairly in line with these numbers.

QB 3 vs 4 in OP
RB 5 vs 5
WR 11 vs 11
TE 5 vs 5
OL 14 vs 16 in OP
DE 11 vs 8 in OP
DT 7 vs 7
LB 8 vs 11 in OP
CB 8 vs 8
S 8 vs 7 in OP
Spec 4 vs 4

Currently 84 out of 81 (85 in two years)

Apparently he’s back lol

Yeah, great work by Coach Chris to stay on this kid. Nice add without using an initial counter this year given he previously signed
Coach Chris interviewed with the Detroit Lions for their open ST position this past January. They ended up hiring Dave Fipp. Huge for the Tigers to keep him around....
I know he interviewed with the Detroit Lions for their open ST position this past January. They ended up hiring Dave Fipp.

Huge for the P&G to keep him around.

I expect Josh Williams will be on scholarship again this year.
Jared Small and Lloyd Cole are strong possibilities as well. I dont think we hand out a scholarship and pull it back.

And theres natural attrition that will occur in the spring, summer, through fall camp.

The numbers always work. Plus we have 8 or 9 guys who returned and wont count against our 81 number this year
