During their 49-7 loss to Arkansas on Thursday night, Florida A&M was penalized one timeout per quarter because the team was wearing illegal jerseys. What was illegal about them you may ask? Both the jerseys and the numbers are white. Never heard that one before...

"Rule 1-4.5-b - The number itself must clearly contrast, even if it has an outline or border." Seems pretty clear to me.

Saw a little on TV and couldn't read numbers. Rule is old and an equipment manager should know it!

What happens if you don't have timeouts in the 2nd and 4th quarter? Asking for a friend (les)

This is stupid. The rule was intended to discourage attempts to camouflage the numbers. Only the bug eyed ref from Bama land would be "tricked" by these unis

About time they put an end to the white on white supremacy.

Why is this illegal? Obviously if both the jersey and numbers are white with no outline, it makes it hard to read. But in this case, you can clearly read the numbers since they are outlined.

Seems like Oregon does this a few times each season without being penalized?

Oh, ok. I figured they meant the numbers couldnt be the same if they are plain numbers. I didnt know they couldnt have outline number styles. Thanks for the downvotes, dicks. ;)

But theyre not. The number is an outlined style number and that is a different color than the jersey.
