PETA Asks LSU Not To Replace Mike VI With Another Live Mascot

PETA issued the following statement on Tuesday afternoon asking LSU not to replace Mike VI with another live mascot on campus, according to WBRZ.

Mike VI passed away on Tuesday after a battle with cancer.

"This sad day could mark a kind new beginning for LSU, where sensitive, intelligent tigers have been reduced to game-day props for decades," PETA said in a statement. "PETA is calling on the university to honor Mike VI's legacy by making him the last live mascot to be locked up in captivity and paraded around an unruly stadium. The last thing LSU should do is condemn yet another tiger to a lifetime of exploitation."

LSU has already said they are searching for a live mascot, Mike VII.

I love the animal activists who are so up their own arse and set on a predetermined stance that they are willing to condemn Tigers to much worse situations and captive habitats. Very few rescue reserves/sanctuaries offer a fraction of what the "Mike" life provides. As far being Mike goes in the Tiger World it is the equivalent of being "trapped" in Hollywood as an A List Actor. Mike lives better than 98% of the Louisiana population.

I'm sure the person that released a statement enjoys the leather seats in their car, the leather couch at their home, along with the sushi and pork tenderloins they recently ate. Not to mention all the wasps and bees and cockroaches they kill on a regular basis

Exactly. I doubt they live lives without meat, eggs, dairy, leather, wool, cosmetics or drugs tested on animals, in houses and offices full of ants, cockroaches and fleas. I wonder if they take antibiotics when they get sick-- seems cruel to bacteria.
