Former LSU linebacker Patrick Queen was on Mic'd Up with Mikie Mahtook this week and told a great story about how the defensive players used to get in fights with Joe Burrow during practice all the time.

So now I know why Brennan stays hurt. It’s his own team haha

Goes to show that you don’t always have to win the battle to gain another man’s respect just as long as you show you have Heart and take no BS. That’s exactly what Joe does as well as anyone I’ve ever followed in sports and that’s why his teammates lay it all on the line because they see their leader do the same everyday.

Tells you how much O really had control of the players. Told them not to hit Joe how many times and never listened.

It’s so pathetic that this bullshite what certain LSU fans take from Pat’s story. Ungrateful piece of garbage

It really is beyond pathetic. Hear this story and still take the time to trash the Coach who had a major hand in the greatest football team of ALL TIME.

A good professional coach doesn’t let that happen.

That type of intensity and will to win, even in practice, is what sets great apart from good. Super story.

Unpopular opinion, but as good as Joe is, I don't think LSU fans give Chase the credit he deserves. Burrow is a lot better with Chase. Go back and watch games from the 2019 season and watch Bengals games from this past season. Joe is very good, Chase makes him elite. They are so in sync with each other its scary. And some of the catches Chase makes along with his speed they destroyed defenses in 2019. Look at the times Thad Moss was completely open because of Chase and then Jefferson. Also, Chase blocks. Not just go through the motion type blocks either. There were TDs scored because of Chase blocking. Without 3 people the 2019 team would not have been possible. Burrow, Chase and Aranda.

If you don't have any fight in you this story may not make sense.

I see a lot of people making comments about how this shows O had no control.. I think he lost more control after 2019 and there were other factors at play with the 2019 team and how dominate they were, but if you are a football coach you want to see this to some degree. The defense was just doing what the defense does. They will try to break you, these are the things that let coaches know who a player is. And as a QB if you want to gain respect you got to fight back.

The most passionate dude I ever saw at practice was Karl Dunbar. Dude would be restricted (no pads) and when the O and D got into a tussle, he’s throw his helmet on and go balls out from the side line. Straight man beast.
