If he’s such a bad guy, how has he recruited so well? Why do plenty of players love playing for him?

Look at the coaches Saban now gets to face each year in the SEC West, and then the East, And now the Coronavirus has turned his football world upside down. For a defensive control freak, I’m sure those who work around Saban will view the Matt Mauck video with agreement. If Bama gets tagged with 3 or 4 loses this next year, whenever that might be, their fans will be clamoring for Dabo.

I always said 2 things about Nick Saban when he was at LSU: 1) He's an a-hole 2) He's OUR a-hole. That's why I've never once been mad at Bama fans for defending him. When Nick Saban is YOUR a-hole, you will gladly overlook the fact that he's an a-hole.

Lots are saying that his personality doesn't matter. Not so sure that's as true as it once was. Modern athletes are not likely to tolerate the Bobby Knight/Nick Saban types like they used to. When Alabama was alone on top, it didn't matter. But now coaches like Dabo and O and Jimbo, etc are recruiting kids who don't want to play at a factory. They have narrowed the talent gap and done it with a smile. CNS is maybe a better recruiter that he is a coach and so my bet is he'll change with the times. He's "mellowing" because he has to. We'll see what the future holds.

Let's just say Saban is a great coach with a not so great personality!

This is great footage. I wish Mauck would have came back in 2004. He was just a great field general, and during that season, a field general was all we needed.
