TMZ reports that former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police pursuit on Saturday in Houston.
quote:

According to documents and law enforcement sources ... a call for service in the Houston area regarding a weapons disturbance was made around 11:15 PM Saturday night in the Houston area -- with the reportee allegedly telling officers Lacy, her family member, got into a verbal argument with her and then fired a weapon into the ground before fleeing the scene.

Cops say they spotted Lacy's car and attempted to pull him over, but say Lacy drove off, leading to a vehicular police pursuit.

According to officers, the car crashed .. and, when attempted to take Lacy into custody, they say they found him deceased in the car from "what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers say they recovered a handgun from the vehicle.

We act the way we feel. Period. Remember that the next time you’re judging someone...anyone.

If I acted the way I felt I’d be in the pokey for life. That’s an absurd statement. Doesn’t mean we don’t have sympathy. But 2 year olds act the way they feel. Not adults.

But your choosing to not act like a criminal or act out like a 2 year old IS you acting how you feel.

On KHOU this morning his dad said to make sure to look for signs of mental health. So he was not playing with a full deck. He did some strange things on the field last season.

NIL is instantly making these young athletes the bread winner in some families. They haven't had a chance to learn how to care of themselves much less become the main provider. This can put a lot of pressure both monetarily and mentally. Unfortunately, he probably felt like he let his family down. In my opinion, these college athletes are being given too much too soon. My heart goes out to him and his family.

Nothing to do with NIL. It’s the culture and this guy just makes stupid decisions! Young folks, especially black men, need different role models and examples to emulate!

I have been feeling sorry for him since I heard he had passed. After reading this, I am not quite so sympathetic. Still do feel really bad for his family, though.

DEPRESSION is real. DEPRESSION leads to DESPAIR. DESPAIR is a SIN that comes from us not trusting GOD to help us in our pain and hurt.

CHRIST loves us and forgives us and comforts us. DESPAIR not and reach out to those hurting.

Correct. Why anyone would downvote this is very sad and mind boggling….. I can’t for the life of me understand why people hate the Christian message so much.

We all know the Christian message. If you are a pastor and feel the need to interject, that's fine. It's the judging part of the messengers of the Christian message that turns folks off.

Let God be the judge. Let the Christian's show their love.

Sad beyond description. Heartbreaking to all whether you knew him or not. A horror no family wants to or should have to live through. Prayers for all families affected in this situation.

So, so, sad. Nothing good comes from someone getting to the point they take their life. To the Lacy family, may never understand this, but may you find peace in God's Grace.

My condolences to Kyren's family. Perhaps, if the Police backed off in the chase - Kyren would still be alive. After grieving, perhaps the family will see if there is any litigation they can pursue for how law enforcement had treated their son over the past few months (including last night). R.I.P.

So you’re saying let the criminal doing criminal things go free… I hope that happens if you ever need police. Those officers only knew that a man evading them allegedly had a gun. That’s it. You really missed the boat on this one.

What an awful post. He took the selfish route instead of owning up to his prior actions and if applicable, mounting a defense. So many lives ruined by his actions over past 4+ months.

Wish I could downvote your comment 100 times, one STUPID comment. Yes, this a tragic situation in which a young man lost his life. Yet, back in December he broke the law by speeding, reckless driving, his actions led to an accident happening and a man losing his life. Last night, he was involved in a domestic dispute, fired a gun and again drive reckless, disobeying the law AGAIN!!
YET IT’S THE POLICE FAULT??? YOU are the kind of people that makes the policeman’s job hard and why their is so much lawlessness in this country today. Bet if it was you or your family the victim of someone breaking the law, you’d feel different!! Someone people are just weird!!
