LSU offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger met with the media on Friday morning to kick of LSU's Offensive Press Conference. Here's what he had to say.

The offense will be significantly better starting with the offensive line. Hopefully, Rosenthal turns out to be the bell cow left tackle everyone thinks he will be. If that is the case, then Charles can be moved to right tackle and Deculus can back him up. I think a now experienced Hines will be better at left guard than what we had last season. Cushenberry and Damien Lewis were rocks at center and at right guard. Even if Rosenthal doesn't turn out to be all that, the offensive line still should be better because everyone will be more experienced, stronger, and better overall. The running attack should be significantly better with the addition of Emery and Tyrion, which should also make the play-action passes that more effective. Burrow should be a stud at QB next season and the receivers with their now new found experience will all be significantly better as well. So if LSU's offense next season isn't one of the best offenses in the SEC and the country, next season we will all know why and who to blame. Hence, I'm not worried about the offense.

Man this board is filled with idiots. Comparing Bama to LSU at this stage with the seperation on the OL alone is absurd. We were 5 years behind bama when O took over. Unless he landed 5* OLman the first two years then we are still 2 years behind them. Not to mention the QB and WR talent separation they have. They also have great TEs. These players are good because they are set up to be good. Saban has been consistent and when he's changed OCs, he's done so with his players in mind while also knowing he has a top notch OL every year. LSU should be on even footing in 2 years and if not then we aren't doing things right. This staff must be given time to prove themselves. While some of our WRs are veterans, look at what they've done in the past. If you don't think it's talent then just look at what Jefferson is doing. Chase, Marshall, Jefferson and the WRs we bring in this year will all be very similar next year. The OL should improve with the offense. Steve E should be able to install his offense 100% with 2 quality QBs behind the starter. What I'm saying is the quality of starters at just about every position has and is getting better every year. If LSU keeps doing that like Bama has then we will be right there with them in 2 years. STFU till then.

Oh but they're young, again!!!! Thats BS and those kind of excuses don't cut it. Also SE, 3rd and 4 against atm 4th qtr, game on the line, dive play 1 yard punt, ultimate result of the inability to get first down for victory, loss #3. Take a look at Washington St game from last night on how to seal a victory by getting a first down late in game, you make a safe completed pass.

When this guy can’t call a 3rd and 4 play to seal a game tells me all I need to know about him as an OC.

Idiots gonna be idiots. Study and practice and study and practice... teach them coach! Is that your job?

Seems that CSE takes his leads from O. When you are in over your head, throw the players under the bus.

Wow, SE may be off base on these comments. Until you score and make it a competitive game against the gumps you ain't doing your job. One fullback, one TE, ???? there's 90 guys on that sideline and none of them can fill those gaps. Come on Steve.

This board loves to hate Ensminger, I live in Shreveport and was talking to Devins high school coach while he was in either 8th or 9th grade and Ensminger called, that's how long he recruited him, without Ensminger we don't get DW, also been big big parts of many other big time commits, is he the best possible OC, NO, he said he didn't want the job, I know he did HIS absolute best, and he makes some valid points, IMO he should not be the OC, but the hate for him is over the top

He said theres nothing he could have personally done better. Sounds like we all agree. There is nothing else HE can do.

I don't think anyone questions Ensminger's recruiting prowess or effort. It's the one thing that really separates him from Studrawa.

Then he should resign if he doesn’t want the job. Stupid.

"Ensminger estimates he couldn't run about 30 percent of his offense this year, particularly in red zone and third down situations." Greaaaat.... so we really only have 7 plays. My worst fears have been confirmed.

I understand him being a stand in considering what happened with Matt Canada, but if he's still OC next year I'm going to lose a lot of faith/interest in Coach O. You've had an entire year to hire, as we were promised, the best supporting staff in the country. No offense to Ensminger, but he's not at that level.

E will be OC next year. I guarantee.

Yeah go ahead and change the whole offense again and see how well that works. He just told you many of the kids could not handle the changes at the LOS.

Blames young offense. Blames having only 1 TE and 1 FB. Blames mental aspects of young receivers, blames offensive line injuries. Doesn’t think he could have done anything better personally, but does take credit for ineffectiveness in red zone against Bama. Confusing is confusing.

Nothing confusing here. SE is not taking responsibility for an ineffective offense.

Yeah he almost scored on Bama this year

Did he go to the school of Les Miles-speak? He said nothing by mumbling something.

SE knew more football than Miles by the time he was 10. LMAO

Ensminger is blaming Giles on not running RPO’s. I don’t think Ensminger knows what an RPO is.

I don't think he blamed him, I think he was trying to explain his lack of production. He just said that RPO's are Giles's niche and we didn't run many of them.

im pretty sure that he forgot more than you know!

According to SE, the offensive line was problematic all season. So...that's why you run RPO's, especially with a mobile qb like Burrow. Instead, the passing offense came out of a shotgun/drop back into the pocket. That's not the place to optimize a RPO. The proof of that is that SE did call those plays with Burrow in the pocket. Those plays, for the most part, did not work. Now a roll out RPO, which was seldom, if ever, called, would have been optimal. See the overtime game at A&M for proof of that.

Zero points against Bama...someone explain how that’s getting better as the year goes on

Greatest d-line program in the country against a poor AND depleted o-line. I wasnt surprised at 0 points

It wasn’t surprising because it’s the second time it’s happened... let’s see if Grandpa E can go 0/3 next year. Yaw yaw yaw

Umm two years in a row as OC and you fail to score one point against a team should be immediate grounds for firing.
