It will be nice to see what LSU can do without the Les/Cam handicap out of the picture.

Why don't people like etling? His pocket presence is phenomenal, he throws a nice catchable ball, and he is a fifth year senior... He's not deshaun watson and we will likely not beat alabama this year, but we are looking at 9-10 wins even with only 6 home games

I love what Etling has brought to the table. He's a great field general and should be just fine since he is surrounded by talent. He simply doesn't need to put the team on his back. Sure, it would be nice to have a Watson or Jackson in Red Stick but is simply is not necc. with the right playmakers and a great scheme to go along with an Aranda defense.

I always think about Matt Flynn in comparison. We need a game manager. Let the team do the rest. Very similar in those respects.

Etling at QB doesn't give me a lot of confidence in LSU this year. I hope he proves me wrong.

Wow... as much purp and gold Kool-Aid as I drink, I am still amazed at the respect that these polls give LSU. Lets face it guys, we are going to lose what could end up being known as the best draft class in LSU history and we are still getting top 5 respect! We lost 4 games with those guys (even though they were nail biters) and replacing them won't be automatic. Anyway, I have faith and next year will be one hell of a ride!

This isnt the best draft class in lsu history. Also we have had great classes the last 5 years amd there is no reason for us to not be a good team.

Win or lose, at least it isn't 170000 run attempts per season. Big O is bring variety

USC & Pedo State in the top 3...! How haha wtf?

I'm not sure who they lost this year, but I remember them coming on strong at the end of last year. But yeah, USC is always over rated.

USC has the best QB in the cpunted and Penn State is full of Juniors and Seniors returning including their top two players on offense. It's not hard to see why they're top 3 considering they were both top 10 last year

Very valid points, DoubleDown. They will remain there until we take them down in Tuscaloosa! I'm saying it right now! LSU will be victorious and the balance of power will shift back to BR!

Ah yes, the yearly "we're going to win and restore all that is right" comment

at No.5 Hype is perhaps a bit overblown, but I have said this hundreds of times. ZERO excuses not to have a 10-win season this year. 5th year senior QB, best Back in the SEC (Country?), top-7 classes last 4 years, and two pick of the litter coordinators.

Look I'm not saying Alabama is gonna do anything this year but has any other team been in the top 5 as long as they have, pre-season to seasons end? Maybe the early 2000s with USC? I dunno, this run that Bama is on is pretty insane, like it or not.

I think Florida State has some record associated with that. Something like 20 years of Top Five finishes, from mid-1980s to mid-2000s.

Penn State will crash back into mediocrity next season. Last year was a fluke.
