Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding spoke with reporters at SEC Spring Meetings on Wednesday and was asked about tampering claims from Clemson regarding the signing of linebacker Luke Ferrelli.

In his response, Golding brought up new LSU linebacker TJ Dottery, who followed Lane Kiffin to Baton Rouge after two seasons at Ole Miss.

quote:

"I’m not going to sit up here and say whatever we did or we didn’t do, was it right or was it wrong? But, you know, when you go through what we went through (with tampering), and what you’re seeing day-in and day-out, some things you feel like shouldn’t matter that they’re making a big deal about," Golding said.

“Not comparing [Ferrelli] to a guy who’s been a starter somewhere that wasn’t in the portal that’s at a new school now after going to a semifinal — like what are we doing? That’s the piece where everybody’s at. There’s an enforcement of [Ferrelli], who just took an, but there’s not an enforcement of [Dottery], who was here for three years, and he’s been tampered with the entire time? What are we doing?”

Crazy they hired him without a search. This end badly heavy majority of the times for those hires.

I can't comprehend the jibberish he spit out right there. Clearly he's not denying anything he's being accused of.

If he knows that we tampered to get Dottery, prove it. It probably won't change any penalty coming their way.

Ole Miss is all in on this season anyway. They know that one Chambliss and Lacy are gone, so is their relevance.

Difference is Golding you were dumb enough to be so blatant with cheating you somehow got caught when everyone is doing it they're just doing it in much smarter ways than you. Like contacting their agents without directly contacting the athlete. Idiot.

I really have no idea how Ole Miss fans have ANY confidence that Golding can sustain what Kiffin built there. He will do his best this year b/c of Chambliss & the RB returning, but after that he’s done.

Im sorry did Lane call TJ sitting in class 3 weeks after school started?

I wonder if Golding will get reprimanded for those comments, or is it just Kiffin?

Dottery happened because OM paid someone more money than him. When he asked for more they told him no. He packed up and left

I guess he's not on the email list. Pete , to catch you up to 2026- there are no rules. So , stop whining and go watch The Ghosts of Ole Miss and then you will know what Lane knows.

And he proved that exactly how? Sounds like a player wanting to play for his former HC and sees a sinking ship

Golding is showing me that, unlike some, he's just your typical run-of-the-mill football coach. Not particularly bright, and immature enough to try and evade a question about his program by diverting attention to what another school "allegedly" did. I mean, that's 5th grade level "logic" at best.
