Famous LSU alum and current football analyst Ryan Clark wants nothing to do with a possible rematch between the Tigers and Alabama in the College Football Playoff.

Here's what Clark had to say about it on Wednesday's episode of 'Get Up,' according to The Spun:
quote:

“Every time you put them in there, when people don’t think they’re supposed to be there, they stinkin’ win it! I don’t want (LSU) to play them again. We did what we had to do. We went to Tuscaloosa and we won it. Let us live. Let us have our shine. Geaux Tigers.”

Aren't excuses being used by Bama to back their way in, again? We won, that’s it. No second chances, again.

I agree with him - we played them at their place and we won - that is enough - on to someone else. Can’t get rid of the bad taste of 2011 and see no reason to give them another chance.

I’ll agree with best 2 outta 3. But we already beat them once, no need to let them get a shot in the title game. Even though I think we would win again. Screw them getting a chance to back in.

Gotta love how Bama fans once again think they "deserve" a second chance at LSU - in a playoff setting no less, without having to play in an SECCG, when they just lost at home - and that it's all totally logical. FOH

No! If you want to be the MAN! Then you beat everybody and never back down. We know we can whip them now and we will do it again!

I know most fans aren't in favor of a rematch, but if LSU wins out (eliminating UGA) and the committee decides to insult Oregon, Utah, OU or Baylor by putting bama in the playoffs in favor of 1 of those 2 conf champs, how gratifying would it be for either Ohio State or Clemson to hand bama a post-season loss, or how much MORE gratifying would it be for LSU to beat bama a second time without the advantage of an extra week off? Sure, I think it's unfair to the B12 and PAC, but for selfish reasons, I love the idea of LSU getting to personally tear up that crimson playoff pass once and for all.

We need to own the fact that we may play them again and look forward to beat them again. I think a large part of our tremendous failure on 1-9-12 was we were scared to play them and bought into it being tough to beat someone twice the same year. If all the memes I saw from last weekend are really true, we should look forward to beating them twice in the same year to show them we're better than they are

There is no reason a team placing 3rd in their conference should even smell the playoffs. Period.

Actually, Miss State was the first #1, Greenie.

He's right. They've done nothing to deserve being on this stage. It's our time!

You play the games, you keep winnibg the games, and it doesn't matter who else is on the stage with you.

Get this through your heads, folks. If any of the Top 4 lose a game, Alabama will be ranked #4 and the re-match with LSU will be assured.
user avatar

So you're saying that no matter what, Alabama is in because LSU and Georgia will be in the title game. That makes no sense.
user avatar

While Alabama might move up to #4, they won't stay there. They have nothing positive left to do that can bolster their argument, only a "good" loss to LSU that they are trying to spin as a win. Bama will get jumped by a one-loss Oregon, Utah, or OU. They're not getting in unless there is more than one conference champ with 2 losses.

A one-loss Alabama football team will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be in the Four team Playoffs. Always.

And it’s not right. While the other 3 teams are forced to play an extra game, BAMA GETS A BYE?? Like they’re the #1 fukin seed or something

How do you say it's not right? Alabama has to catch some breaks to get in in these set ups. LSU controls it's destiny and has a mulligan in the SEC Championship game on the way. Furthermore if they win the SEC, they get rings and have SEC Champs recognition, Burrow has a better shot at the Heisman...there are a lot of benefits to being in the SECCG... recruiting is boosted too. So no, it's not a perfect system but Alabama should not be penalized by the same token because they took a close "L" and the two best teams in CFB happen to be in the same division.

Yeah, a bye week before the playoffs after losing at home already to one of the four. If LSU lost, there's no way in hell you would even consider them getting in the playoffs.

It is not fair. The team that wins the second game wins the NC. It is also not fair to other teams, Alabama had its playoff game against LSU and lost.

Agreed. Its unfair to ask LSU to play them again having already beaten them on their field. I didnt agree with it last time and I wouldn't agree now.

No one is scared. It’s principal. Why does Alabama continue losing these games of e century AT HOME, and then expect to get in. And think we are scared to play them again. We actually just won. Again. Move on and go to your bowl game. This LSU team ain’t scared. It’s principals. If we are going to eye test everyone, cancel all conferences, every team line up 11 games, and they can have a committee eye test their final ranking. Is bama good? Yes. Not as good as years past. And no one ever addresses they are 0-2 in games of the century, AT HOME. {off soap box}

The way to fix this situation is to make the teams in this situation co-champions provided they both win one game. The committee will try to avoid this situation if the team the one the first meeting is guaranteed a share of the title even if they lose the championship game. If you want to get crazy you can have them play best of three.

I wonder if Ed Orgeron was head coach of Alabama if the media would be pushing as hard to get Bama in the CFP?...one word... SABAN...
