LSU starting linebacker Michael Divinity is no longer on the football team "due to personal reasons," according to Brody Miller with The Athletic.

The report was quickly confirmed by Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated.

Divinity, a senior from Marrero, La., was held out of three games this season due to a "coach's reason."

If only Divinity was playing at Bama and was caught with drugs and stolen guns he wouldn’t be having this problem.

TBH, if these young adults can't choose an NCAA championship and an NFL career over weed, then they have bigger issues to deal with.

I agree with LSU Patrick. Weed is fantastic but it's not really addictive. Fairly easy to delay that gratification for 4 more months.

Several failed drug tests apparently. Very unfortunate for the team. Best of luck.

Ya.. if it is the drugs, I hate to see that from a senior. Especially one that is one of the main leaders according to the coaching staff. Hopefully the team can find a way to use it as fuel and play hard and execute well for him and hopefully Mike won’t lose his way over this.. you know, keep his head up, learn from it and move on. We’ve all made mistakes. It’s how you deal with the consequences that builds character.

I’m also glad to see Coach O and the staff doing the right thing. They have him plenty of chances and then I imagine they stuck to their word and carried out the punishment he was warned with. A lot of coaches would try to cover it up and keep him on the team to have a better product on the field. But as a head Coach sometimes for the good of the young man, gotta show some tough love to help teach the kid some discipline etc. just another piece of evidence pointing to a great coach, and a man of true integrity.

First he had the cryptic tweet, but then he backed it up with arguably his best game of the season so I really thought all was OK here. smh!

Ive seen a lot of people blaming this on drugs, but I dont think thats a fair assumption to make about someone whos given so much to the program. A couple weeks ago he tweeted out that he has lost his love for the game. So whatever is going on is a personal issue, and as fans of this team we just all need to support his decision and let him figure himself out. Next man up.

When you have the opportunity that these guys have and you find yourself in this situation....you’re only as good as the last blunt you got caught smoking

I agree and wrote a similar comment. If drugs were involved, maybe it was to cope with somehting we are totally unaware of.

I guess smoking weed is more important than playing in the biggest game of the year

Wasn’t he saying he lost his love of the game a few weeks ago?

Even if that is true, how could you not get fired up for a game at Bama?
