LSU co-offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach Cortez Hankton has reportedly interviewed with Ohio State.

Hankton is not expected to be retained on Lane Kiffin's staff at LSU, as Ole Miss passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach George McDonald has followed Kiffin to Baton Rouge.

Hankton, a native of New Orleans, La., joined LSU's staff in 2022 as wide receivers coach and was promoted to co-offensive coordinator in 2024. Before joining LSU's staff, Hankton was the wide receivers coach at Georgia from 2018-21.

Georgia warned LSU fans this guy wasn't a good coach and they were right. He inherited 2 all-pro NFL WRs and pretty much everyone else regressed under him. Good luck with that one Ohio State. He looks locked in the pic for this story but he wasn't locked in at LSU!

I dont recall the ridiculous number of drops as long as I have been an LSU fan as this year. It was ridiculous. Our receivers also seemed to have a hard time getting open as well.

How much is the receivers’ fault for drops over badly placed balls by the QB. Nuss ain’t Joe Burrow and he proved that. But Hankton did work with Malik and BT and Kyren m, also Aaron Anderson.

2024 and 2025 WR play was the worst I've seen it at LSU.

OSU had the best WR coach in the country. They'll lose their reputation as a top school for WRs quickly if they hire him.

Best of luck to Coach. Hoping he gets the Ohio State job. Kiffin has cleaned house to bring in his coaches.

I hope Hank gets that job. Real good dude and helped build Nabers, Thomas, Lacy, and Aaron Anderson while he was here. His UGA WRs he either recruited and/or coached included Pickens, McConkey and AD Mitchell. Lotta sour grapes from people who don't know ball.

Y'all are not paying attention to what is going on. Lane on offense is making the same f'ing mistake BK did, getting rid of connections to the Boot. Louisiana recruiting is different than any other state, if you don't have an in with the HS coaches in the Boot, then good luck to you because your arse won't stand a chance. Yes, I know NIL is a major play in recruiting, but if the HS coaches are not comfortable with you, they will funnel their players elsewhere they are comfortable. BK, Joe, Cortez and Frank are all gone, and I don't know how comfortable the Boot HS scene is with Lane and his Ole Miss transplants, hopefully our best players don't follow Frank to Ole Piss.

none of these kids care about any of this anymore. It's all about money

You are correct, $$$ is the recruiter now.

the program cannot be held hostage by a bunch of greedy HS football coaches. And the coaches you mentioned may be great recruiters but have been below average at their position. They had to go.

I understand Lane bringing his own guys in but I wouldn’t have minded retaining Hankton. He got the WRs blocking very well and playing with aggression. But I don’t think we’ll have a big dropoff with all of our targets being utilized properly.
