Brody Miller with The Athletic is reporting that LSU senior wide receiver Racey McMath has signed with an agent and is declaring for the NFL Draft.

The news means that McMath will not be taking advantage of the NCAA's newly added extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19. He previously accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl back in early November.

McMath, a native of New Orleans, started in LSU's first six games this year but suffered a season-ending injury vs. Arkansas on Nov. 21. He finished the year with 14 receptions for 195-yards and one touchdown.

I doubt he gets drafted, but he definitely has the ability to have a successful NFL career. Hopefully he signs with a team that will give him a legitimate shot at making the team. Most undrafted free agents are just camp bodies. He definitely should have taken advantage of the additional year of eligibility.

Deep receiver room and he will probably land a special teams job but thanks for the concern.

Racy couldn’t likely improve his draft stock and we are deep at WR. Thanks for your time at LSU.

Some teams get stars, known first and second rounders, to come back. At LSU, the backups leave early!

It's weird to see that headline.

Smart move on his part. Why return to college and risk another injury? Why take the chance that LSU will improve when it was a disaster this season? Why assume you’ll start when good young receivers are on the way? Now is the time.

Players have different reasons for going but from a statistical perspective, he doesn't have the numbers to command a high draft grade and that could cost him draft position and money. He has 14 Rec. for 195 yards and 1 TD. Doesnt' really qualify him for the early Rounds! I would advise him to come back but I am sure that the LSU staff have already advised him to do so. Good Luck, Racy!

He’s a demon on kick coverage. Might help him stick somewhere.

Prediction : He's gonna be drafted in the 3rd, maybe 4th round. But he'll be a fan favorite for years to come with whatever team drafts him.

I just do t understand why they keep doing this. He may not even get a combine invite. I guess the depth chart is not favorable for him.

Maybe, maybe not, Boutte would have gotten majority of targets in 21, and possibly Koy Moore or Gilbert if he returns. Might be a smart move to try and impress at the combine.
