Wilson Alexander of The Advocate reports that LSU and new offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. have reached an amended three-year, $7.5M deal this week after Ole Miss was exploring interest in keeping him in Oxford.

The 32-year-old coach had been Lane Kiffin's OC at Ole Miss since 2022. Before that, Weis Jr. was the OC & QB coach at South Florida from 2020-2021, and held the same role at Florida Atlantic under Kiffin from 2019-2019.

Weis Jr. returned to Oxford last week to coach the Ole Miss offense in the playoffs.

Ole Miss will play Tulane in the first round of the playoffs on Dec. 20.

So we’re basically paying Lane $15.5M a year. Got it

1. We were too nice letting them go back.
2. As soon as we heard that Ole Piss was trying to pay Charlie more money to stay, we should have told him to come home, sign the new deal and not go back. frick Keith Carter and Ole Piss for trying to take advantage of our hospitality. GLOVES ARE OFF!

He better be the best in SEC for that money! Though Kiffin was the real play caller anyway? Over paid again

LSU just pays, and pays, and pays. And gets mediocre results. SMH

I would make them come back now b4 they milk us on the other guys. This is ridiculous and makes us look weak. If you want to be at LSU come home now.

Amended? He’ll be making as much as Kiff by the time the playoffs are done.

Did OM not already hire an OC? If so, what leverage did Weis Jr. have in bringing this to LSU to bend the knee.

Also, who is paying for the LSU coaches on loaner to OM? We (LSU) is throwing allot of cash around lately. Particularly with no increase in ticket sales that balance sheet must be on fire by now.

an annual look in to make sure he’s the highest paid OC in the SEC? gross. he was dog crap without Lane running the show. had one of the worst offenses in his conference when he left Lane from FAU. we shouldn’t have him at all and now we’re doubling down? Let him go to Ole Miss

Man, y'all do realize it don't f'ing matter what the hell you think about Jr., if Lane trust him and wants him, Lane gets him. How much did LK pay to keep Blake from coaching his Alma Mater? LSU is all in with Coach Kiff, what he wants he gets.

Always the highest paid OC? Well LSU should always have the #1 off in the sec then.

This is why I was glad Ole Miss didn't allow Kiffin to continue to coach in the playoffs. We would have been left at the alter with no plan B,C, or D. I knew this crap would happen. Now, not only are they helping Ole Miss, they aren't doing work for LSU right now. Look for one or two to change their minds and stay at Ole Miss.
