NCAA Denies Kristian Fulton Appeal To Play In 2018

The NCAA has denied Kristian Fulton's appeal to overturn a two-year suspension for failing a drug test before the 2017 season.

Fulton, a junior cornerback from Metairie, La, received a two-year suspension from the NCAA for violating the NCAA Drug-Testing protocol back in January 2017. The Fulton family hired Alabama-based attorney Don Jackson last year to represent their son and filed a "reconsideration" appeal to get him eligible for the 2018 season. That appeal was denied on Thursday. Per The Advocate:

Alabama-based attorney Don Jackson said that "hopefully that's not the end" and that he and Fulton will be pursuing a waiver with the NCAA.

Jackson said he doesn't have a timetable yet for pursuing that waiver.

"At the moment, it's kind of a kick in the stomach," Jackson said. "I really feel for the kid."

It's time that the NCAA be taken to court for a whole host of egregious unethical practices in the way they treat certain schools and athletes and the unequal treatment and leveling of penalties. It's time that the NCAA be removed as the governing body of college athletics. It no longer serves any useful purpose because it has proven time and again, it does not care about the college athlete only the lining of their pockets and the power they have to make up their ethics and rules as they go. It's time.

The NCAA imposes a 2 year penalty on a kid for attempting to substitute urine when he later passes test using own urine, but will not do anything to two athletes caught with a pistol and marijuana? Where is the consistency?

I'm with Gold... I just want consistent consequences. There are guys getting 3 game suspensions for far more egregious offenses across the country. I am all for Fulton taking his licks for what he did, but lets be real, he is a young man who lied. Anybody ever heard of a teenager lying?!?!

Disgusting. Just disgusting that NCAA would be so dismissive of a young athlete. They've basically thrown this guy's career away. How many athletes come back from two years of not playing? Pathetic. For what, attempting to cheat? I'm disgusted that the NCAA would do this to anyone. If I were him, I'd sue the hell out of the whole organization! Quite playing by their rules and being nice. F em!
