LSU Struggles Against Alabama In Disappointing 31-13 Loss

USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect
No. 14 LSU suffered a disappointing 31-13 loss to No. 5 Alabama on Saturday afternoon in Tiger Stadium, as the Crimson Tide scored 21 unanswered points to pull away in the second half.
The loss dropped Lane Kiffin's Tigers to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in SEC play, dealing a significant blow to their College Football Playoff hopes.
LSU struggled to finish drives throughout the game, despite moving the ball effectively against Alabama's defense.
After trailing 10-3 at halftime, LSU opened the second half with a field goal from Scott Starzyk before running back Dilin Jones scored on a 5-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers their first lead of the game, 13-10, late in the third quarter.
However, Alabama responded immediately with a touchdown pass from quarterback Keelon Russell to Josh Ford to regain the lead, 17-13, with 40 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
Russell added two more touchdown passes in the fourth quarter as Alabama pulled away for its fourth consecutive victory over LSU.
The Tigers finished with 457 yards of total offense but managed just 13 points, with missed scoring opportunities proving costly.
LSU returns to Tiger Stadium next Saturday, November 14, to face Texas in its final home game of the regular season. Kickoff time has yet to be announced.
