Multiple sources are reporting that LSU freshman quarterback Walker Howard is entering his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The news was first reported by Mike Scarborough.

Walker, a former five-star prospect from St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette, La., appeared in two games this season with just four pass attempts. He is the son of former LSU quarterback Jamie Howard.

If Walker departs the team, LSU's quarterback room moving forward will be senior Jayden Daniels, redshirt sophomore Garrett Nussmeier, and freshman Rickie Collins. The Tigers also have a commitment from 2024 four-star quarterback Colin Hurley.

Wait your turn, my gosh, you weigh like 190. Get bigger and better and become a TIGER. If not you are TIGER BAIT.

I agree. Howard needs some muscle and he is shorter than I thought he was. Listed as 6’1” but no way. He is more like 5’10” or max 5’11”.

We see what happens to slight quarterbacks in SEC play.

We never know how it would play out, but here is one way to look at it.

Daniels for 2022 & 2023
Nus for 2024 & 2025
Walker 2026. He would be waiting 4 years.

My guess is, that's what was on Walker's mind.

So we lost a WB who couldn’t beat out Daniels or Nussmeier? There is also Ricky Collins Howard would have to contend with so he hauled arse. Adios.

Didn't want anyone to leave. But I'd rather this than Nuss if it has to happen. Have fun at TCU I guess.

Weak! No one wants to compete! If you think your the best QB in the room! Go prove it. Soft mentality now days!

Pretty obvious he spoke to beech way before this decision was made.I wondered why Beech would leave his buddy while he went to TCU. Now we have our answer. Between the transfer portal and paying players i am starting to really dislike college football.

Get used to it. This is the new college football where kids are taught to quit on their teams and run when things aren't going the way you like it. Don't blame the kids, it's what they have been enabled to do.

We need to be more supportive of the ones who stay, regardless of their skill.

This is a perfect example of how soft society has gotten and is continuing to get. They're raising these kids to run this country and world into the ground and the sad part is, they honestly believe they are doing the opposite.

I thought this dude was gonna be good for LSU. Also thought he had a chance to start games this in 2023. But if he thought he couldn't beat out either guy in the next 2 years then that is a red flag.

Stop living in the past guy. There is no 5* anything gonna sit the bench for 3 years.

Star players play 3 years in cfb.

Jd isn’t going to magically improve in year 5.

Look at his stats yourself… mediocre… ordinary as in nothing special.

WH and GN both could do as good statistically, but add depth with the pass.

Kinda like Burrow thinking he couldn't beat out Barrett and Haskins at Ohio St?
user avatar
rob6240 months
LSU6262, Burrow put in 3 years, competed, then graduated from Ohio State and had an idiot for a head coach who told him he threw like a girl.

Walker Howard insisted on a Redshirt in 2022 and is leaving after 1 season without even trying to win the job. He could have competed in Spring and see where stood and then transferred if he was unhappy. Instead he simply quit. There is no comparison between Burrow and Howard. Zero.

Part of what made Burrow into the player he became was the participation in an elite program and the competition with elite players. This would be a bitch move if he assumes he is already great instead of trying to win the job
user avatar

I will add that Brady never could win the starting job in college but the effort he gave attempting to win it worked out for him too

Burrow transfered with only 2 years of eligibility left. He gave Ohio State a honest chance. You can't compare those two situations.

He is getting some bad information. What I have seen of him is he is a long way from starting QB. But I bet he ends up at TCU.

Young man, this may be the worst decision you have made in your entire life. It isn’t too late to take your name out of The Porral though.

The greener grass on the other side of the fence is sometimes artificial grass.... In other words, other schools you transfer to, have talented QB's as well.
