Multiple sources are reporting that LSU freshman quarterback Walker Howard is entering his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal.

The news was first reported by Mike Scarborough.

Walker, a former five-star prospect from St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette, La., appeared in two games this season with just four pass attempts. He is the son of former LSU quarterback Jamie Howard.

If Walker departs the team, LSU's quarterback room moving forward will be senior Jayden Daniels, redshirt sophomore Garrett Nussmeier, and freshman Rickie Collins. The Tigers also have a commitment from 2024 four-star quarterback Colin Hurley.

This transfer portal is crap. If you commit to a team you should have to stay at least 2 years. He clearly isn't good enough then, and I don't wish him luck like a bunch of other dummies! You quit us, you are the ENEMY!

It's real simple! Walker wants to leave because he knows he's not good enough . And he's playing like a walk-on

The grass may be greener, but it is just as hard to grow... Maybe WH is going to transfer somewhere he can play now, and then transfer back to LSU once Nuss leaves and he can start.

... so I guess people are not a fan of sarcasm in this chat.

I wish him well if he winds up departing, but I'd sure as hell prefer keeping him in Baton Rouge!

Freedom is not a bad thing. Best in life for the young man.

So when BK said he expected all 3 QBs to be here in the spring was he just blowing smoke up our azz or was he blind-sided also?
user avatar

Definitely blowing smoke. Nuss will leave soon also. Hopefully BK recruits a hotshot freshman to back up Daniels.

TCU quarterback is transferring, maybe he is deciding to go there to be with his buddy Bech?

Besides with Oklahoma and Texas going to the SEC, it looks like TCU will be a major player in the Big 12. No real big threats to compete against during the season.

Scared of Rickie Collins.

Sad to see how soft some of u are!
The kid is making what he believes is the best decision for himself. Don't agree with it either, but its his decision! Wish the young guy luck and go on with ur day! Nothing nice to say, say nothing!

Nah, he's not. This isn't the age of sophomore qbs starting and playing well. Burrow was a grad student. Stetson Bennett is geriatric. Wherever he goes he going to have to wait his turn to succeed.

Walker Howard is soft my man. When a player insists on a Redshirt year and gets it then leaves before ever competing for the QB job because other QBs want to stay then he is soft as a pillow. Get it right.

He's a quitter and his dad is a liar. See you later! He's the enemy now! It's sad how people take up for these kids. Oh, he's just a kid. Oh, he has rights. Yeah, and he was man enough to pledge to LSU now has balls enough to Quit! Sad!

Part of what made Burrow into the player he became was the participation in an elite program and the competition with elite players. This would be a bitch move if he assumes he is already great instead of trying to win the job

I will add that Brady never could win the starting job in college but the effort he gave attempting to win it worked out for him too

Burrow transfered with only 2 years of eligibility left. He gave Ohio State a honest chance. You can't compare those two situations.
