LSU head coach Les Miles was on SiriusXM College Sports Nation Wednesday morning and told the story about how Leonard Fournette gave his Auburn MVP award to another player on the team.

Instead of holding on to the honor, Fournette passed it on to fullback John David Moore, who recently earned a scholarship from LSU in fall camp. Per 247Sports.com:
quote:

After Fournette rushed for 228 yards and three touchdowns on just 19 touches, Miles said he was awarded the team's MVP after the game. But Fournette deferred the honor, once again, this time giving it to fullback John David Moore.

Moore, who is in his first year as LSU's starting fullback, recently earned a scholarship after working his way up the roster as a walk-on.
Very cool.

Agree with him FAR surpassing the ideals of #18 jersey... but SORRY, #7 greatness >>>> #18.

He is a man in more ways than his physical stature. Great athlete and great person. I hope his team mates vote for him to wear jersey number 18 next year.

Reading the walk on story of John David Moore makes me think he might have number 18 in his future his senior year. Since JDM is a sophmore, LF will be playing on Sunday's by then I do believe.

He did the same thing in high school. He won some award for Louisiana's best, turned to the guy he beat out for it and basically said, "you da real mvp", and gave him the thing.

Man, how could you hate this guy, even if he steamrolls your team?

It is one thing to be a fan watching history being made but imagine how his team mates feel playing with such a great player

This. I mean, you can only imagine the chemistry this team has, you really do get the family feeling; and that's visible to even us fans. It's rather rare these days we see a player give all the credit to his teammates and coaches, so you can tell these players will go to war for each other. Miles has a quality unit on his hands year, both on and off the field.
