Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin spoke to the media Monday and was asked about some of the early reports that he is being mentioned as a candidate for the LSU job and whether or not he will address it with his team.

Kiffin also talked about his relationship with Ed Orgeron. Per The Clarion-Ledger:
quote:

"I think the team knows how focused we are and how we take it one day at a time so I've never addressed that," Kiffin said. "Maybe I should, but we don't worry about things that we can't control that are on the outside. Obviously in recruiting you're always battling all that. I feel like every coach probably battles that but especially (me) ever since leaving Tennessee. It is what it is and we'll work our way through it."

Orgeron has replaced Kiffin as a head coach before. Kiffin has taken over a job Orgeron previously had as well, albeit years after Orgeron's stint at Ole Miss. Nothing seems to be out of bounds between the two friends.

"We have a really good relationship," Kiffin said. "He's not a big talk-on-the-phone guy, as you can imagine. But he actually texted me after that game Saturday. He's an awesome guy and phenomenal coach."

Kiffin doesn’t really seem like a Woodward hire. Look at the baseball hire, that’s proof enough that Woodward will be hunting for a coach that’s both fit for the role and not a lightning rod of attention.

Woodward will not do the obvious…..he will outsmart the Rant…..the new coach has not been mentioned yet.

Then that's a scary thought because all the good coaches have been named

There aren’t any other coaches. We've named all the top ones, not just on this page. Unless you think we are getting Andy Reid, Bill Belichick, resurrecting people, etc.

Finally! And thank you to even acknowledge that 'someone' can, in fact, 'outsmart the Rant!' The Rant is such a source of amusement for me; like they can, really, affect change! Thank you again!

Please no. This would be a very polarizing hire. O and Lane being friends makes sense now.

IF he ends up being the guy, it will be a sad day for me. I will have to stop following LSU football.

Haven’t been paying attention to him specifically but I haven’t heard his name in a long while. What is this circus you speak of?
