College football analyst Bruce Feldman joined Fox Sports' "Breaking the Huddle" with Joel Klatt this week and talked about LSU's head coaching search.

Feldman said LSU AD Scott Woodward is still making a run at Texas coach Jimbo Fisher and also talked about Michigan State's Mel Tucker as an option. Per On3.com:
quote:

“The LSU [coaching search] is really interesting because even though Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M had said he plans to remain on at A&M — and that kind of doused a lot of the speculation that Scott Woodward, the AD at LSU, would be able to hire him again,” explained Feldman. “Remember Woodward — when he was the AD at A&M — was able to pry Jimbo Fisher away from FSU.

“From what I’m hearing from people around LSU is that Scott Woodward is not giving up easily. And he feels like he may be able to pull Jimbo Fisher again even though the A&M people are like ‘no, that’s not happening.’ So we’ll see how that plays out.”

If Fisher stays in College Station, though, Feldman says Mel Tucker could be the guy in Baton Rouge:

“Mel Tucker is a guy that has obviously had a terrific year and done a really good job turning around Michigan State,” Feldman continued. “He’s a former LSU assistant, former Nick Saban assistant. He is very well thought of by a lot of people inside LSU, especially some really influential people.

“But ultimately this will be Scott Woodward’s hire. Can Jimbo Fisher really say no to him? We’ll see.”
Klatt wrapped up the segment by saying he has heard LSU 'has a large blank check' to get the coach they want:
quote:

Well, [Jimbo Fisher] has $9 million reasons to stay. So I guess Woodward would have to come up with $10 or $11 million reasons to leave," Klatt said.

"But I have been told that the check is blank at LSU and it's large. Whatever he needs, speaking of Scott Woodward, he's going to get from some of the donors down there to go and get their next coach."

Bruce Feldman is full of shite. He is flying by the seat of his pants to sell newspapers and magazines. Nonetheless, the truth is Bruce Feldman doesn't have the first damn clue who the next head coach of LSU will be.

The coach that is hired needs to understand the passing game, which is where college football is today. Neither Miles or Coach O understood the passing game.

Fisher is bad news. He cheats in recruiting and will get us in trouble.

Considering they've gone after him numerous times in the past, I'd say you have no idea what you're talking about. That being said, yes, it's a lame attempt to sabotage recruiting since Jimbo will never leave for LSU.

Recruiting LSU coaches by the little rascals. Starring Scott Woodward as Spanky….. Darren Penamsky as Alfalfa..... Billy Tate as Buckwhe….. Never mind. Like watching a trainwreck.

Because one of them is coming.

Mel maybe though not likely, Jimbo never. All the nonsense about a blank check is meaningless. There's no way LSU could out write A&M in a blank check war.

Mel Tucker has has been at 6 different places in the last 10 years and 11 different places in 25 years. The longest he has ever been anywhere is 4 years and that was going on 10 years ago. He left Colorado after 1 year as head coach there before going to Michigan State. Based on his history, he won't be anywhere long enough to be a long-term solution.

Well when you climb a ladder you eventually reach the top rung.

EZ, in our professional lives regardless of the career, we all are climbing the ladder. If you are a coach, LSU is at the summit. When Woody lands his guy, compare his salary to any of the others in his profession.

I just feel like he would probably bolt for an NFL gig since he was in the NFL for 10 years and only ended up back in college after he was fired as the Bears' DC. He also had some odd moves like leaving Bama as assistant head coach after 1 title-winning year to go be the DC at Georgia. He has coached with a number of great coaches though.

Stop trying to make Jimbo a thing. He’s being paid ungodly money at A&M.

Ahead of him how? Ed has never been ahead of Jimbo in any way shape or form, not even close.

Based on how many times LSU has attempted to hire Jimbo I'd say you're wrong.

Mel Tucker may be a good coach, but he was 7-12 before this year. We simply can't hire a coach because his team is having one good year. And they still have to play Ohio State and Penn State.
