John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney spoke with reporters Tuesday and shot down any speculation about him being a candidate for the LSU job. Per ESPN:
quote:

"This is the only Death Valley I'm concerned with right here," Swinney said, referring to the stadiums in Clemson and Baton Rouge, which are both nicknamed "Death Valley."

Swinney has been speculated to be a possible candidate to replace Ed Orgeron since LSU agreed to part ways with its coach after this season -- just two years after winning the national title.

"I don't know the situation [with Orgeron at LSU]," Swinney said when asked about the pressure to win immediately and consistently, "but I do know some of the greatest coaches we've ever had weren't good early or maybe the consistency wasn't there. It's a tough business."

Woodward has made some really smart hires for baseball and ladies basketball already and they were hires nobody had reported until it was done. I expect this will be something like that although I'm sure you will have heard the coach he chooses being at least mentioned along the way because the media has at least mentioned almost every possibility. We'll see, but I have faith in him.

Dabo or not, LSU has lost some good potential candidates in the past because certain people in the media couldn't keep their mouth shut. Just keep talking about Mel Tucker until Scott lets us know something.

Frick Mel Tucker. Unproven as they come.

Frick Dabo, he’s waiting on Saban to retire from Bama. Then he will truly be home if they want him. LSU does not need Dabo, we can do much better. Clemson is a small pond with an even smaller fish. I believe the species is called a Dabo. Geaux fighting tigers

Knowing what a phony Dabo is, that means he’s very interested in the LSU job.

I would be very underwhelmed with a Dabo hire.

How’s Dabo doing this year? Oh they’re young, right? Keep him at Clemson, Scott.

Are we gonna be seeing this pointless, speculative shite for the rest of the season? These coaches aren’t going to publicly express their interest one way or another in the middle of the football season. Make it stop.

Yep. It's going to keep getting more and more ridiculous over the next 2 months.
