During the Texas Bowl on Tuesday night in Houston, new LSU coach Brian Kelly was interviewed during the broadcast and was asked about Max Johnson's decision to transfer and whether or not he had a feeling that the QB would be moving on...

Per On3:
quote:

“No, I didn’t get that feeling right out of the gates but look, it’s a transition,” Kelly said of LSU’s coaching change. “There’s a lot of uncertainty and you really can’t fault kids for that. They don’t know. And so when uncertainty is in front of them, they’re going to look towards something that’s a little more stable for them. So I don’t fault him for those decisions. And then we just have to move on and find the young men that want to be here and are ready to move forward.”
Johnson, who has now transferred to Texas A&M, passed for 2,815 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and six interceptions this past season at LSU.

That's some shade calling someone transferring away a "kid" but looking for "young men" to come to LSU. Subtle.

CBK was classy and veer professional in this response.

Max Johnson got happy feet on the way to College Station and shuffled his way into a sack.

Transfer portal changes a lot and honestly sucks as a fan for the most part. However, IMO seems fair. It’s BS for kids to commit to programs and coaches/schemes that could change on a dime too.

Be happy Tigers. If that bum suits up for aTm, we will be in good shape.

What I am hearing Coach Kelly, explicitly, imply is if you are in the boat and you want it to move forward with LSU football, paddle forward. If you don’t want to move the boat forward, under his guidance, have a good life elsewhere and and he is not mad at you. If you are in, let’s go, because Louisiana has the talent, LSU has the brand and Kelly is bringing the coaching. Wise guys always take the high rode. Much of what Coach Kelly says is loaded with wisdom. I just can not see the players not buying into his program.

Our fricking WR threw a better deep ball than Johnson. Not worried about him being A&M’s QB in the least.

He won’t start at A&M. The qb from Oklahoma has transferred there also. Must have got a good $$$ deal. NIL

That's the most mature answer I've heard about the transfer portal. Someone needs to share this with Kirk Herbsteit

Max is a fine qb, and I know he will have a good college career. If he wasn't transferring to a literal division rival, I would be able to root for him in the future.

Johnson sucks, got a scholarship bc of his dad, never seen someone hold the ball so long and throw so many uncatchable balls. Tv people just constantly talking about how big of an arm he has too ??

He's better than a few LSU quarterbacks from the last 12 years/

He has less pocket awareness than Jordan Jefferson and about as much poise in the pocket as Jarret Lee.

Look! If Orgeron is not standing in LSU gear, lying and croaking incompetence, with nobody speaking, then we are trending up! I hope everything is exposed on this ignorant toad!!

I wish more posters had the same attitude. Instead it’s just “quitter,” “pussy,” “traitor,” all the things that are the antithesis of everything BK is saying. It’s odd to see everyone react so positively when coach says it, only to turn around and keep bashing the players over something they don’t understand.

BK can't rightly say that on tv but maybe that's what he's thinking.

He’s saying they’re afraid of change, but for some odd reason, they transfer schools..max didn’t want to be here, and we don’t want him.

Every QB on our roster is better than Max Johnson so no big loss there
