Ed Orgeron confirmed Monday that junior running back John Emery Jr. is ineligible for the rest of the season due to academics.

Some have reported that Emery Jr. enrolled in the wrong class this summer which is causing this issue, although Orgeron did not elaborate on the situation.

This guy has been a headache since he has stepped foot on campus and that comes from 2 coaches mouth. I don’t feel sorry for a guy with all that potential but wasting it.

Come on LSU athletic department. Y’all can’t realistically expect all of these dudes to properly navigate college. They are there to play football, not to meet compliance nuances.

The universities hold these kids hands all day long. Emery obviously chose to be the next Ben Simmons of LSU.

I couldn't disagree more. This is John Emery's responsibility. Also, not every student-athlete will make good money as a pro or even have an opportunity to go to the NFL. It's important to have an education as a fall back plan, at least.

100% there should be another line disclosing who is getting fired for this.

Why are you so certain the "wrong class" is actually the issue?

The entire staff needs to be fired for gross incompetence

When will we stop pretending that the majority of these players are at school for an education?

They’re getting paid now, well some of them. Figure that should be enough.

Only a small minority of college football players make the NFL.

I hope no one is stupid enough to believe the enrolled in wrong class bs. He couldn’t make the grades.

So was he indeed placed in the wrong class by LSU as I saw on TD a few days ago? We negatively recruit against ourselves.

That’s an excuse

I’m with everyone that thinks this is a way to help him save a little face. Saying it was a scheduling mishap instead of him failing the class in general sounds better for him in my opinion. Some want to blame O and LSU, but the people in charge have been helping athletes schedule classes for a really long time, so I’d imagine they knew what he needed to take. I mean there’s a reason he was needing to take these classes in order to be eligible and it wasn’t bc they messed up his schedule in this past fall as well. I hope he gets his grades together and sticks with it and shows out once his is able to play again. Deep down I feel like the next class he enrolls in will be transfer portal 101.

Another reason O should terminated. This could've been prevented and that's on the head coach

I know some are quick to upvote literally anything negative about O, but this is so damn dumb. No it’s not… Not only is this probably saving face for the kid, but there is an entire team of academic advisors that are in charge of this if this truly was the reason. But I assure you, that’s not the case.

Time to open up the offense with Nuss and go 5 wide. Nuss has Joe Burrow swag. The team will feed off of it. At least make it exciting again.
