A top LSU target became available this week as four-star Baton Rouge quarterback Rickie Collins announced his de-commitment from Purdue on Monday night.

Collins, a 6-3, 185-pound passer from Woodlawn High School originally committed to Purdue in October of 2021. Now that he has back on the open market, many believe that he will end up at LSU. Collins' head coach at Woodlawn is former LSU quarterback Marcus Randall.

Collins is rated the No. 13 quarterback in the country for the class of 2023 and the No. 7 overall player in the state of Louisiana, according to 247Sports. The Tigers currently do not have a quarterback committed for the class of 2023.

Following his de-commitment, many LSU players took to Twitter to recruit Collins with the "#RickieReconsidered" hashtag:

I know this is petty, but how nice is it to see one of these without "that being said" and "respect my decision"?!?

Loves the purple and gold. Sees that Kelly is not building a dumpster fire. Decides to live his dream. Russell Shepard 2.0, I will bet he will gladly accept the earnings that man made in the NFL. It’s can’t be all about NIL deals for these guys who will likely get a shot if they work hard

You don't know the situation at LSU 2 years from now. For all we know that QB roster could be cleaned out from transfers or unseen consequences. For all you know he may develop faster than anyone. What I do know is you take a QB every class no matter what the depth chart looks like for that reason mentioned above. We're losing 1 QB with the possibility of another. He could be QB3 before he even takes a snap at practice and it doesn't take much to slide up beyond that.

Does this mean Nuss will sit out some more? Let Walker and Rickie have their run and then maybe think about stepping in to a game or two.
