Talented four-star safety Derrick Davis Jr. announced Saturday that he is committing to LSU.

The 6-1, 195-pound prospect from Monroeville, PA, picked the Tigers over Ohio State and Penn State.

Davis Jr. is rated the No. 1 safety in the country for the class of 2021, according to ESPN. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 2 safety behind LSU commitment Sage Ryan.

The Tigers now have 22 verbal commitments for the class of 2021 with the addition of Davis Jr.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but our trenches suck on both sides. Are they planning to beef all these athletes to 300 #to scrap with Bama, GA, AU lineman? Unless the SEC is switching to 7 on 7, our line depth needs to drastically improve. Great pick up but come on, where is the beef?

While we're having an aweful year Coach O can still recruit with the best of them. And I know so many of you fake arse fans already turned your backs on the Tigers even after a historic Championship season. Look this year is as much as Coach O and no other Coach will ever admit is a rebuilding year, we just lost way to much from last year and Covid-19 didn't help. With the experience we are getting this year and players not losing this years eligibility LSU will be back next year.

Our Safety play is at an all-time low right now and we still bring in the #1 and #2 ranked players at the position for 2021, one of which is 1200 miles away..... Amazing!

Ummm yea it’s easier to recruit a position that has immediate playing time available

It’s easy to recruit when you put so many DBs in the league. It’s not no. 1 and no. 2 in the country at a position easy, though. That’s awesome.
