Louisiana Judge Grants RJ Luis Injunction, Paving Way For Him To Play At LSU

LSU basketball received some major news Monday as RJ Luis Jr. has won a preliminary injunction against the NCAA, clearing the former Big East Player of the Year to play for the Tigers during the 2026-27 season. Judge Ronald Johnson ruled in Luis' favor in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Luis committed to LSU in May despite uncertainty surrounding his eligibility. The former St. John's star went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft before signing a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz. He was later traded to the Boston Celtics organization but never appeared in an NBA or G League regular-season game before being waived after suffering an injury.

The addition is a significant one for Will Wade's roster. Luis was named the 2025 Big East Player of the Year and a consensus second-team All-American after averaging 18.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game during his final season at St. John's.

Well, it’s not really college ball anymore… it’s just a minor league now. NIL now pays these kids more than minor league baseball teams. Don’t like this crap, but that’s what NIL has done to amateur sports.

Did you talk to the NCAA and ask them why the class of 2022 got screwed. In the years prior to that year, COVID gave everyone an extra year. Starting in 2027, everyone will be able to be play 5 years in 5 years. Let me know what the NCAA tells you when you point out the class of 2022 got screwed!

That doesn't apply to this guy. Leaving because you have to according to the rules vs making a conscious decision are two different things. Where does it end? Next a 3yr players goes pro and can't cut it so he decides to sue to come back. It's BS. I do not care which college or sport
