BATON ROUGE – LSU forward Trendon Watford, a member of the 2020 All-SEC Freshman team, announced on Sunday that he will enter the 2020 NBA Draft process.

Watford's current plans are to retain his eligibility as he goes through the NBA evaluation process. Watford announced his decision earlier on Sunday on his Twitter feed.

"We are excited to support Trendon as he goes through this NBA Draft process" said LSU Coach Will Wade. "Trendon had an outstanding freshman campaign for LSU, showing great versatility and improvement as the season went on. His play helped us to a second straight 20-win season at LSU and a second-place finish in the SEC."

Basketball at college is inconsequential. No sooner do you think a team is building a program of worth a good player leaves after 1 season. I can’t get into LSU basketball anymore. At least Shaq stayed 3 years. College Football and Baseball at least I know they are staying 3 years. With the Chinese/ Wuhan virus everything is gonna change anyway. I really don’t know what to think about the future of college sports. Just wish it was back so I can tell myself everything is back to normal.

I wonder if the current uncertainty in the country played a part in this. If you don't know when you're going to play again, maybe may as well try to make a buck while you wait.

College basketball is so lame. Make the kids stay at least 2 years if they decide to come to college. If not, let them leave and go pro straight from high school

Don’t worry, he’ll be back next year. Good player no doubt, but would benefit from another year in college.

Got some salt on here. Nobody thought Naz would make it either. This young man has talent and represented LSU well. Just be happy for him

The one and done is so stupid. Just let em go to to the NBA out of high school.

Should be like football, 3 yrs and declare. I would imagine 90% of the one and done wish they could go back to school again. This Tiger is one of the 90% imo

Why does everyone always “want to thank” folks. If you want to thank LSU, then just do it instead of saying that you “want” to thank LSU.

It’s not mutually exclusive. Playing in the nba is what he wants to do with his life but LSU gave him the opportunity and he’s thankful

Didn't we establish last year they have to declare in order to get a draft grade, then they can still come back if they don't like their grade? This happened with Skylar, Emmitt and Marlon last year and they were all back. Let's hold off on disparaging Watford for this decision

Except last year all those players you listed didn’t write a 2 paragraph goodbye letter. He gone no matter the grade.

Why would you take a shot at the kid? Especially when he still has the option to come back

No 77 ranked player in draft, he will be back I bet. Last year they all wrote letters and came back, 4 of them
