A 61-year-old surfer was attacked by a shark on Maui, according to several witnesses. Maui Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Giesea said Maui police’s “quick action” was life-saving...
quote:

“I would like to commend the patient for his strength and wherewithal getting himself to shore,” Giesea said, according to KHNL. “I mean, now that’s extraordinary.”

People don't have to go into the ocean. They choose to. And on doing that you could be hurt or eaten at any time and point. If that is not the definition of insanity I don't know what is. And people who do deserve whatever happens to them

Did mommy not let you play sports as a little boy? Because it is a completely unnecessary activity and you can die at any time and point. I guess that kid who gets hit in the chest and dies on the field just deserves it right?

People deserve to die for going to the beach? Come on, dude. Get off the high horse.

These things take a lot more people than is actually recognized. Don’t buy into the mistaken identity. Most White Shark attacks don’t happen in the manner that you are told they do

When I was three and in my floatie on a Mississippi beach, the small child next to me screamed and when the parents lifted her up, her foot was missing. A shark had bitten her foot off.

I will not ever swim in the ocean willingly but only in lakes and pools. I know that shark could have easily taken my foot instead.

In the US, 75 million people swim at the beach every year. Worldwide there are around 65 shark attacks per year.
