We really liked our first Eufy. It was far superior to roomba. We just got a new one and boy has that been terrible. Had to send the first one back, it couldn’t dock itself after like two weeks and the replacement rolls straight over dog hair without picking it up which is arguably the only reason we have one. Sent it back and got a refund. will be following this thread for Yall recommendations.

Whichever I choose, I’ll be waiting for Prime Day to see what the prices do.

We used to do Eufy's but after several we've started using OKP vacuums off Amazon. Most are around $100, you can catch them on sale for $90 sometimes and they are just as good as Eufy or whatever other knockoff brand you can find.

They last a couple, three years or so and then you buy another.

I have a Roomba Series 880 that I got years ago. The thing is basically retarded. Even with the lighthouses it rarely finds its way back to its base. So I have to play "find the Roomba" every day when I get off of work. It's also loud as frick. Its supposed to have "tangle free" rubber extractors, but my wife, child, and dog all shed like I'm living with 3 Wookiees, and those extractors are constantly getting bound up with hair.

I'm sure newer Roombas are better than this one though, since the tech has gotten better.

I was at my buddy's house yesterday, and he went from a Roomba to a Roborock, and he loves it. It maps out the house, and once the house is mapped, he can use the app to put no-go zones for the vacuum. It's docking station has a bin the vacuums empties the dirt into. And the base cleans the robot too.

I bought a roomba 3 series a year or two ago and I can stand it. Loud and always having error/connectivity issues. It's okay when it finally decides to work.

:cracks knuckles:

you want the dreame X40 **ULTRA** (not the L40 or anything "L" and not the X40 **MASTER** $$$$!)
beautiful home assistant integration
you can buy a $300 kit to permanently plumb it for water and drain
look at YOUTUBE, there's a ton of videos comparing them and this one beats roborock in every category.

- $579 on amazon right now (prime days are coming up so tag this with a watch alert in case it goes on sale!)
- $310 refurb direct from DREAME on Temu (don't laugh, its local sourced refurbs so 2 day shipping)

what are your specfics? i wanted badly to recommend roborock to my friend but there was no defense, this one is the shite.

start with this 6 minute video. EASY watch and he nails every aspect. really well done video

NOTE - these are the plumbed versions ($$$) but identical to the lower tier (X40 MASTER vs X40 ULTRA) you just have to buy the optional plumbing kit extra but all the vacuuming tests are the same and the half the price of the MASTER even with the extra plumbing add-on.

Here is the temu link if you are brave enough to get a refurb. I've been talking to Dreame about this and they are very responsive; any issues and they'll ship you another one right away. really working hard to win everyone's business.

Dreame Outlet Store $316 2 day delivery

Probably not your use case if this is not a new build; but my friend is building in a cubby for the robot, plumbing it with cold water & drain, and even has a little rotating orange siren inside the cubby when the robot makes its appearance ala the 'remote drop ship scene' in Aliens

and because we lack the ability to grow up.

so here's the plumbing kit you need (and only this one..trust me i've been down this road..you want RAW6 or RAW7 for the X-series. NOT RAW8!)

amazon has the RAW6 sold by ecovacs (which is a legit storefront; also very nice people and they have an aliexpress site under the same name)

Optional vacuum plumbing kit

in short, i'm all in on this model right now..its been out for a couple of years and its proven and solid.

lots of new 'flashy' tech coming out right now; but if you want something that just works and has a rabid fanbase, this is your vacuum.

roomba fricking SUCKS. i returned mine.

there's a reason they just declared bankruptcy.

i've had roomba, shark and roborock. love the roborock for what it is; but i'm seriously thinking of moving it upstairs and getting that refurbished x40 for my main floor.

THIS.

I've owned probably 4-5 different robot vacuums over the last 8-10 years and this one has been the BEST one I've owned by far. Highly recommend.

I bought a Dreame a few years ago, I am 80% carpet so I have to empty it around 3 times per use, the auto empty wont suck out that thick wad of carpet and cat hair otherwise it has been good.

Roomba does all this too.

Yall got me wanting to upgrade from my shitty Roomba.

Anyone have any experience with the Tapo vacuum?

Less than $200, and it has good reviews. Popular Mechanics lists it as their best Budget Friendly vacuum

wait until prime days before doing anything.

watch that 6 minute video i posted above. its very well done and gives you a great idea of the things you'll want to keep an eye out for with any robot.

ETA i gave the roomba i bought a fair shake. i purchased it a year ago and it had the mops, self-emptying water resorvoir, the whole 9 yards.

on paper it sounded fine. i ran it for 3-4 weeks and was very patient and in the end boxed the entire thing up and sent it back because it was nothing but one problem after another.

replaced immediately afterwards by a fairly average roborock and was blown away with the difference.

you cant go wrong with roborock. that looks like a solid choice but i'm not familiar with that model. anything with 10k or over on the suction power is going to do a great job.

if you have a costco membership i saw a roborock featured right when i walked into my local club the other day but didn't notice price or features.

these damn robot vac companies come out with dozens of new models & variants every year so its hard to keep up.

the good news is that means there are LOTS of great units at fire-sale prices as they constantly churn out new versions.
