Tim Tebow Faces Backlash Over Ties To Christian Organization Leaving People In Debt

Megachurches are target-rich environments for multi-level marketing schemes.

If true, I hope Tebow comes out and is honest about his role and what he knew of it. The only defense I can think for Tebow and maybe hope happened with Tebow. And really a lot of these people, Is that he didn’t know the details of what they were doing causing people to be stretched beyond their means. I’m hoping that Tebow just thought, right or wrong, that this is a Christian organization that he knows some people in it and they asked him to speak. And they wanted his message to be on faithful giving. We see big time cooperations do this all the time, they get someone famous to be the “mascot” and that poor mascot has no idea of the shadiness. It’s like seeing Shaq do an ad for The General and then they get busted for scamming people, not having the rates they promised, etc. Shaq might know some people for them but he can’t know all the ins and outs. Ok maybe not the best example but you get what I mean…

The tricky spot is that it is biblical to give. I personally have done it and seen returns come back in crazy ways. It’s in fact the only time in the bible that God says to test Him. BUT, it’s not for man to profit off of! it’s supposed to be for the Kingdom of God and rest assured He will deal with this. Another unfortunate truth is this is gonna just reinforce anyone’s opinion on the matter. If you were skeptical of the church before, you say see that’s why I don’t trust churches or Christians. The bible talks plenty about using discernment when someone claims to preach. It’s never gonna stop scammers and drifters from perverting the message. Christian’s need to call it out like we were encouraged to do. Don’t let these unfortunate and sad stories hurt your faith, this has nothing to do with your faith if you are a Christian, we always will have wolves disguised in sheep’s clothing. We will continue to call out drifters. Go read Paul’s letters again, he was calling out several churches for their failures to preach the word accurately. Remember not everyone who claims to be from Christ is, we judge them by their fruit.

Tail as old as time of people taking advantage of people in the name of "god." These are criminals. Stop using religion to get people to dish out their hard earned money and make them feel bad if they don't. Tebow needs to be held accountable if he's part of this.

None of this means that Tebow was complicit in this scheme, although if he's clearing millions of dollars per event he should be smart enough to put 2+2 together that something is up with this organization, because that's way more than he normally gets to speak at an event.

That's like when a streamer gets a couple grand to advertise a video game on stream compared to multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars to do a couple hours of gambling on stream.
