Link?

But people hate Atlanta because it's a city full of transplants with little actual civic pride. That's why the Saints can sell more season tickets than the Falcons, despite being five times larger. The city couldn't even put on the Olympics properly.

The city has a museum celebrating tasteless American consumerism about a company founded by a quack and snake oil salesman. Oh, and it has an aquarium, despite being nowhere near the ocean. And it has a football team famous for choking. That's it.

I don't hate Atlanta. I think the Buford Highway is a fascinating stretch of restaurants, food markets, etc. Worth a visit for the Buford Hwy Farmer's Market alone (not a farmer's market per se, but a mega mart of all kinds of ethnic produce). Read more about it here: LINK

I hate ATL. This is primarily due to traffic. I hate going there and getting around.

Because of transplants? The only ones that may hate that are people from Atlanta.

Olympics were great, that was also over 20 years ago. Olympics are pretty much a scam on the host city anyway, no one should put it on anymore.

Why hate on the coke museum? It’s a private entity, it would be worse if Atlanta forced them to shut it.

I’m not a fan of their Aquarium, Chattanooga has a better one in my opinion and we aren’t near the ocean. You realize fish live other places besides salt water right? Our lakes and rivers building is fantastic.

Traffic is my biggest issue with Atlanta by far. It’s miserable most of the time trying to travel on the interstates there.

This is a Louisiana message board. Hence, the "hatred" for Atlanta.

But other than our traffic, I rarely hear of people who hate Atlanta IRL. Even people who have to fly through ATL know it's quite good for a huge airport.

LOL, Dam Guide. I thought it was obvious that I was just trolling and having some fun. I don't hate Atlanta. I enjoyed the Coke museum.

I loved the trajectory of Atlanta in the mid to late 90’s. Olympics provided a special buzz across the city. Braves won the World Series. Buckhead was on the come up and it was safe. City metro was maybe 3 million people. Now it’s way too spread out and close to 6 million people. I don’t find Buckhead and Virginia Highlands as quaint as they use to be.

exactly. Nowhere else other than on this website have I seen so much hatred for atlanta. What's even funnier is that the people that talk the loudest are almost surely the ones that have only been to the area directly around the dome for a concert or sporting event.

And a lot of cities where people actually want to live and thus are growing.

You don’t see cities like Boston, New Orleans and St. Louis being places people want to move to despite their “civic pride.”

The city itself is bland, but the metro is pretty awesome in terms of livability when compared to other metro areas.

Atlanta is an aesthetically pleasing Houston in a nicer location. So, I don't really hate it.

I do hate that you can't drive through the state of Georgia without being forced into Atlanta traffic, though.

I'd probably go the other direction.

I think the city itself is awesome in the sense that you can live, relatively affordably, on tree lined streets with sizable backyards in the city proper. The suburbs aren't as good as some similar cities, IMO.

It's paying money to go live inside a giant, endless Coke commercial. I really hated the place. And I drink a ton of Diet Coke.

Not a fan of Atlanta either and I lived less than 100 miles away for 15 years. That wasn't far enough. It was very nice for some LSU games in Atlanta, they do get a nod for that. But it's mostly the overwhelmingly awful traffic and the overall meh-ness of the place. I prefer nearly every large city that I can think of that isn't named Philadelphia.
