Any recommendations for a family of beginners with an 11 year old and 2 eight year olds? Would like something with at least a few fun rapids.

Thanks for recommendations.

Come over to my side of things on the Arkansas. I do know a company that'll take you down the Roaring Fork too (Indy Pass down to Aspen).

AVA is ran by a shithead, so avoid them. Otherwise, most of the companies down the Arkansas are pretty good. Like the poster above said, going to do BV and getting a guide through Browns Canyon would be a great way to go.

Maybe one of our Summit Co posters know something in Summit.

We did KODI rafting out of Buena Vista and had a great time. Go on the website and get recommendations for trips in your kids age group.

The Blue River is pretty lame. Definitely raft the Arkansas River. Brown's Canyon is a good section for kids those age. I would avoid doing The Numbers section with them.

When are yall going? Peak flow is going to be big this rafting season. Siedel's Suckhole is the biggest rapid on Brown's Canyon section/trip. You can go left, right, or straight through the middle of it. Everybody needs to be paddling hard to get through the middle of it, or you can easily get stuck in it and flip. Depends on river CFS that day of course. Flat calmer water after the hole if anyone gets tossed.

We are doing a half day through Browns Canyon with my 11 and 9 year old through Wilderness Aware in about 3 weeks.
I picked them b/c they were going to be right by the campground we were staying at that night, and they have free dog kennels.
We're taking an RV from BR. first stop Durango, rafting there, then up to Ouray, then to Buena Vista. Bringing the dog along so have to plan accordingly with him along. Can't leave him in an RV with no electricity for 6 hours sitting in the sun.
