My son and his school choir plan on visiting New Orleans in November. Would welcome any suggestions on places that musically inclined high school kids would enjoy in New Orleans. Thanks for any help that can be given.

Get him a fake ID and then come back to me.

Edit: WWII museum is the right answer though. I enjoyed it back in high school when I went.

Preservation Hall for great jazz music. Google it. You need to buy tickets in advance. Aquarium, WWII Museum, Insectarium, Cafe du Monde

They should go to the Quarter and watch a gay burlesque show. I hear those are wild, family friendly fun. They can probably get some smack or something too.

Take em down to the quarter and listen to the street music..guys banging on buckets and stuff like that. Just don’t be out past dark. Catch a saints game mabe or make a ride to BR to LSU and see the golden band from tiger land march down the hill. If you can make it for the Bama game I promise you he will be talking about that time his dad took him and his buddies to the LSU Bama game for the rest of his life.

Ignore all these guys, they’re just having fun.

It does stink that he’s so close to 18 because there’s a lot of places to see jazz all over town, but because Nola is very much a drinking town he won’t get in.
There’s plenty of touristy things to see in the French Quarter, River Walk, and then you kinda have to go to Cafe du Monde as that’s kind of the thing to do for out of towners. Also look at Preservation Hall, but you will need tickets in advance. Also there’s a myriad of restaurants to suggest. It’s the best food in the world, and november is prime Gumbo weather.

Also if the Saints are in town that weekend and he can swing it he should try to get tickets. As this is a school trip I don’t know how much autonomy he’ll have running around the city.
