Wanting to hit Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, etc in one trip in April.

Is it better to fly into SLC or Vegas? Should we fly into one and out of the other?
Any must dos or advice on the way? We are probably taking our <1 y/o, so no need for extreme nightlife.

North Rim of GC won’t be open yet. Usually around May 15.
I’d fly into Vegas, or St. George, UT. And out of Phoenix after doing South Rim.

I've actually been to all 3 in one day, but I was leaving from Flagstaff, spent most of the day driving, and spent the following day in Zion doing Angel's Landing and some of the Narrows. Spent very little time at the Grand Canyon but stopped for a bit on the north rim because the route to Bryce Canyon led me past there. Hiked the amphitheater at Bryce and was able to drive through Zion during sunset to stay in Springdale. I hope your trip is less rushed than mine was.

at bryce, unless you have unlimited time, everything you need to see is at the amphitheater...you dont need to drive all the way to the end.
at zion, if at all possible, stay inside the park.
the traffic in/out and the shuttles thing can be a hassle (if you stay in the park you can drive the main road and skip the shuttles)
DO NOT SKIP capital reef

I second all of these. We did have a nice hike in Bryce though. It was nearly all along the rim. We took the bus to the end and hiked a mile or 2 along the rim. Stopping half-way for a picnic lunch. That said, we didn't really improve the view with the walk, but it was really memorable and less crowded.
We stayed in the cabins in Zion two nights, and that was great. Took the bus to the entrance, crossed out and ate at the brewery right at the entrance.
Capital Reef was worth the stop. We probably short-changed it though. We hiked the grand wash into the narrows. Since we were traveling with our 2 & 4 year old boys, we didn't do the narrows in Zion (adult waist deep + cold arse water) so the dry narrows in CR was really cool to hike. I kept looking up thinking it would be prime mountain lion territory though.

Logistically, that trip is hard to top. Basically a big circle, and relative to the vast expanse of the west, we did not drive that many miles. Driving in and out and between these places was one of the best parts. Absolutely stunning landscapes, often not passing another vehicle for many miles.
Every place we went to was fantastic, and we really only scraped the surface of those places. We even had to skip some really cool things(lack of time) such as Grand Staircase Escalante, Valley of Fire, and Lake Powell recreation, to name just a few.
Flying into Vegas is pretty cheap, and lodging was inexpensive too. If you camp, its even cheaper. We went in March, so it was still a little cold. We only camped in Zion.
I did it with 3 other people, so with split costs, I did the whole trip for well under a grand. Could've done it cheaper too if I really tried.

It's hard to describe how other-worldly those landscapes are. I highly recommend getting to Arches some day. I'm not particularly metaphysical, but there almost seemed to be an "energy" in Arches to me. Perhaps it was because there was a storm blowing in though :P It just had an electricity in the air coupled with the crazy landscape and ominous sky.

I visited Arches and Canyonlands in 2015, and we camped on the Colorado River for a night. It was absolutely majestic. It is like you are another planet.
I definitely want to go back though, as we did not spend close to enough time at both parks. I was with some friends that just didn't want to go for a multiple miles on trails, and didn't want to stay in Moab for more than a day. It was still great, but I left feeling unsatisfied, so I have to go back asap.

Kinda wish we gone to Bryce for 1 day but....I just have to go back and do that , North Rim and Capital Reef in the future!

To be fair, one of the big reasons we didn't do much hiking there is because my buddy brought his golden retriever with us on the road trip, not realizing that dogs aren't aloud on trails in Arches and Canyonlands. Not only that, we got a little behind schedule on our road trip and we wanted to spend a night/day at my buddy's family house in Avon before heading back to Denver.

I’ve been looking into a similar trip. Does this make sense for a weeklong trip:
Two nights in Vegas. Visiting a friend and wife will want pool time and a show.
Drive to Zion, two nights. Camping or cabin if available.
Drive to Bryce, one night.
Drive to northern rim, two nights. Fly out of Vegas.
Anything I missing that would be a must do over one of these options? Need to keep it at about a week.
September a good time to do this? August or October better?

Personally, I’d try to get out of Vegas as soon as possible and I would probably skip the North Rim if you only have a week.
You’re missing Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef National Parks and it would be a shame that you made it that far without seeing those parks. Coral Pink Sand Dunes and Kodachrome Basin are two state parks that are worth the stop if you have the time and you’ll probably end up driving right past them.
I’d recommend going in October because the weather is nice and cool and the crowds are gone.

Vegas is pretty much nonnegotiable. Going to have to trade pool and a show for some cabin/hiking time. Plus I’d a night with a friend I haven’t seen in almost 15 years at a sports book or craps table.

Arches and Canyonlands are right next to each other, I’d spend a day and a half there before heading to Capitol Reef for half a day and then on to Bryce.

No problem! Enjoy your trip, the Grand Canyon is neat but personally I’d much rather see the other 3 Parks over it. Plus if you don’t see it this time, it’s just an excuse to go back out there.
