Upscale all inclusive Caribbean destination

We are looking for something a bit nicer than sandals or similar all inclusive resorts. We have been to Jamaica and Punta Cana before. Looking for something we can just chill at the resort with maybe an excursion or too. Main purpose of this trip would be relaxation.

If you end up wanting to go back to Jamaica I strongly suggest Sunset at the palms in negril.

Big Ambergris Cay fits the bill, although very pricy. For a more reasonable alternative, Try one of their other properties in the Turks and Caicos collection.

What VABuckeye said and I’ll add Jumby Bay.

Cocoplum island in Belize. Not fancy like large resorts can be but adults only, very small, and as relaxing as they come.

Ambergris Caye is blowing up. It’s an awesome place to eat, fish, drink and chill. Sam Pedro is not the quiet town it was a few years ago.

Go to cheapcaribbean.com. Check out guanacaste cost rica resorts, especially Riu Guanacaste resort. There are people on then beach that will set up all your excursions also.

Is Ambergris Cay really worth $3500 a night? We have been to French Polynesia, and this is 3x cost for that.

Just busting your balls here but you came in asking for upscale in your OP and now complain about price?

Ambergris Caye was once a sleepy island and the main town there, San Pedro, was super chill and everything closed at 8:00 PM, including the bars. Now it is full of big hotels, tons of tourists, and has lost everything that was charming about it. Don’t get me wrong, it is still a fun place to go, but I’m a small-town kid and like small islands, unfortunately ambergris caye is no longer that.

I love Palm Island but wouldn’t consider it upscale.

Wow. I don't think anyone could watch the promo video on their website and not want to book immediately.
Sadly, it is closed still.

$25k for a week in the cheapest suite. Wow. I mean it looks worth every penny, but wow.

I'll second Coco Plum Cay in Belize. We just did a split stay between there and Belizean Dreams in Oct. 2020 and it was great. It included 4 excursions. We did the land ones on the beach property and the snorkel ones on the island property. Both were pretty empty when we went, but there's only 24 rooms on the beach property and 16 cabanas on the island property so I can't imagine it ever gets too crowded.
I may do a review one day when I figure out how to post pictures.

Yep. Their prices have gone way up post COVID.
Take another couple and rent a private home on property cheaper than a suite.

There’s still not a lot open so anything that is open is in high demand.

Peter Island was amazing. It's a shame that it got wrecked by Irma just after they'd undergone full renovations.
