Do y’all think Florida will be open by Memorial Day Weekend and do you think it will be crazy packed?

We have a resv at the Hilton in Pensacola this weekend. Haven’t heard anything from the hotel. Guess I should call and confirm my resv will be honored???

Hotels are allowed to be open, just not short term rentals

I really don't see how they can police it if you say you're staying at a friend or relative's condo.

Cousin was at our family's place down in Ft Morgan this past weekend and said that area was pretty much a ghost town. They never ventured out to GS/OB so no reports on the beaches, restaurants, or stores there. We're going this weekend and plan on doing the same thing and not getting back in the car until we leave Monday morning.

Headed down to Fort Morgan on Monday, pretty pumped. Is it pretty far from everything? I have only been once but it was a while ago. Any good places to get freshly caught fish?

Blalocks is a market, not sure if it’s open.

From our place(near Kiva Dunes) it's about a 10-15 minute drive to the Rouse's and the main areas of Gulf Shores right there. Add another 10-15 minutes to Orange Beach. Those are guesstimates for right now. In the summer it's taken me almost an hour to get to Orange Beach area due to traffic.

Blalock's is close to the Rouse's on Hwy 59 in Gulf Shores. Have never bought fish from them, just shrimp, and their shrimp has always been good and fresh.

Who is in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach? Are there a lot of people on the beach?

Live cams looked like a good amount of people on the beach yesterday. Headed over there tomorrow.

Just talked with my friend that is at his place in Perdido. He said the public beaches are pretty crowded, but the beaches at the condos aren't very crowded.

Flori-Bama is only open for outdoor dining. Bar area is closed. According to him, but he said he hasn't ventured out much, and that was just what he heard.

He also said to bring as much groceries as you can because the Publix in Orange Beach is very picked over.

No. Extending trip. Figured would head to orange beach for a few days.

Pensacola beach is beautiful. Was crowded over the weekend but not too bad. The weekdays have been pretty chill and nice.

Did you go through checkpoint on I10 or detour to 90?

Checkpoint I-10. 5 mins pass through. Texas plates. I think if you have Louisiana plates, they just ask you to fill out a form and that’s it. Pretty quick

We are still tentatively planning on heading down to Pensacola in a week. Just got this update from our short term rental host. Still a lot of questions, but hopefully the trip is still a go.

quote:

Yea, we are trying to get more clarification on that issue right now. I have called my County Commissioner, to obtain the contact at the State level that will explain in detail the consequences for having an out of state guest in our home…we have 4 separate groups of Tennesseans coming in beginning May 15 thru June 6. I know I could claim that **** is my cousin, my question will be what kind of proof will Law Enforcement require…paper documentation, or a DNA test??? Will Law Enforcement be driving through neighborhoods looking for out of State license plates??? As I get some clarification I will pass it on to you, hopefully I will have that today.

***** and I have discussed parking one of our cars in the driveway and just tell anyone who asks that these folks from Tennessee are our house guests. I will not collect money from any of my Tennessee guests up front, but rather as they check out…in case they are asked by law enforcement have you paid to stay here? I have already taken the sign down that was on the post in the front yard of the beach house because I felt it would make us a target for curious eyes! This is a bunch of B.S.

It really is unfair and most likely Unconstitutional. The Hotels on the beach have never shut down and they will let anyone from any State or Country stay as a guest in their hotel. We heard that owners of Vrbo hand AirBNB homes will be cited with a second degree misdemeanor if they disobey the Governor’s order. Another issue that will be a problem in the Governor’s order is that they are requiring a 72 hr. waiting period in between guests checking out and guests checking in. This will be a real problem for those of us who rent from Saturday to Saturday. Hope to have clarity today.
