Anyone know what the policy is on beaches ? I know public peaches are closed , but what about private beaches offered via a VRBO house?

Pretty sure May 1st seems to be the target opening. In Alabama at least.

Unsure how they will be handling swimming pools however at resorts.

Some beaches opened up this weekend.

1st &15th in Florida, last I knew.

When is the Louisiana travel quarantine in Florida scheduled to be lifted?

Not in Okaloosa or Walton counties. Santa Rosa County May open up next weekend but in the same aspect as Jacksonville. No chairs, towels, sitting, etc.

In Walton we are hearing it could be mid June before they open up fully. Big concerns about vacation properties that pack 15+ in single houses.

Any word on Okaloosa? Have reservations for 5/9. Will get refunded if beach is still closed. Not sure about a partial opening.

No specifics as we don’t have property in that county but Walton and Okaloosa generally mirror each other in most public/tourism policies.

Thanks, keeping fingers crossed. Either a full opening or nothing would be best for me.

Yikes,
Have reservations in Okaloosa 06/20. Looks like we will go down to the wire.

Okaloosa is having a meeting today. They are throwing around the idea of opening up on a limited basis but just for exercise similar to what Jacksonville did.

The biggest concern still seems to be how to handle the tens of thousands of visitors who will flock once they fully open. We were there this past weekend and the grocery stores are just starting to catch back up, but many of the restaurants are not even doing take-a-way. If you have a mass influx of visitors with limited supplies then the locals suffer.

Just my guess, but I don't see a full opening until after memorial day. Hope I'm wrong.

Please keep us updated.
I'm dying to book something anywhere between Orange Beach and Destin, but I def. don't want to go into a situation where places will be overwhelmed and under serviced. Wouldn't enjoy myself and I don't want to add to the problems.

My daughter is graduating high school and was supposed to of course go on a nice trip. We really want to at least get a good beach trip lined up.

Okaloosa will "fully" open on May 1st, but with limited hours.

I am getting daily updates from my management company in OB. Everything is pointing towards the first. A lot of pressure for that area as their bread and butter is from March-August. Snowbirds help a little but not much.

By open, do you mean just for walking/running/fishing, or can you go out with chairs and an ice chest?

Bump.

So I was just reading about Orange Beach and Gulf Shores and I can't figure out if they have made a decisions. Gulf Shores wants a two phased beach opening and Orange Beach says pick a date and do it all at once.

Last I’ve heard was a recommendation that they open up for exercise, fishing, etc on May 1st but no sitting and lounging on the beaches until May 15. Nothing is official though.

No shut huh.
People can stay cramped up indoors all over, but can’t sit in the outdoors in the sun?
