That’s so dumb.
I hope the owners are figuring out ways to skirt the system and still rent their places

Wife really wants to go to Florida for Memorial Day.

How does the ban on rentals to out of staters work? How would anyone even know? How is it enforced?

That's what I'm wondering. I know big places like Sandestin have the follow the rules, but what about individual owners.
I'm guessing some of the old farts living in condos full time would rat people out as well.

All you have to say is that you're staying at a friend or relative's condo. Renter says the same. It's not being enforced from what I hear.

Not really. You can avoid the front desk altogether if you're dealing directly with the owner.

Does short term rental include hotels? I have a hotel booked for the end of the month in Miramar and a condo in Orange beach to hedge my bet.

Hotels are good to go. You can browse VRBO and Airbnb , find one you like, click on "message host".. message them privately and see if they're renting. Then you can leave Airbnb and VRBO out of it and save on service fees if they're cool.

So it looks like FL release their phases today. Rental ban stays in place for out if state renters through phase 3. Each phase is minimum 2 weeks, so the earliest out if state renters can go to FL is 6/8

Where are you seeing this?

Hmm, interesting. As I read that, it says rentals "should consider" only renting to FL residents. It doesn't say they are required like some of the other stipulations in the phases

So is a hotel room in Orange Beach an option?

Thinking of taking the kids there weekend of 16th - 17th. Or to a beach somewhere. We could make it a day trip but I'd rather just spend the night and drive home next day.

I actually just changed my Airbnb reservation from OB to perdido. The host is a company and they gave zero fricks.

Yeah, I haven't heard anything from the person we rented from, I guess I'll contact them and see what their position is. I don't want to wait until the last minute and have everything in Alabama snatched up
