I have Florida plates and unless I can get out of here tonight, I’m going to go around it tomorrow because the traffic delay might be longer on I-10 than 90.

If you don’t have Louisiana plates, just say you have not been in Louisiana and they wave you right through.

I went through at midnight and it took 5 minutes but I can’t speak on the delay during the delay.

Oh, I've been through it several times already but I'm expecting long backups tomorrow and Friday.

We are headed to Orange Beach on Saturday morning.
For those more familiar with the traffic patterns, if we hit the Mobil tunnel by about 10:30AM, am I looking at long delays? I know I can go around and will watch Waze, but if I need to beat on my wife to leave earlier from Nola I will.

I’d shoot for 10.

Gro-stos on Perdido Key fully stocked, at the moment.

Hooch in short supply.

That’s stump juice to you Wowdy Webels.

This is kind of obvious, but the earlier you can get through the tunnel the better. I wouldn’t want to be trying to get through much later than 1030

They’d be smart to pull that down today or tomorrow

Everyone has advised that we should make sure we bring toilet paper since many stores were low or out.
That’s the important stuff. LOL

Well that and the beer

Most people won’t be leaving until 1pm or later as most check ins are 4:00.

If you hit the tunnel before 1pm you should be fine. Friday and Saturday will be worse than tomorrow.

Update today from Southern Resorts if anyone is booking through them. Trying to get in touch with them for more details but its impossible. We are booked in Pensacola on May 31st.

"Florida Only: We know our existing guests traveling from Louisiana have questions. If your stay is between now and June 15th, please contact us about options. While we want you to come to our beach, we do need to be sure that if you do, you self-quarantine for a period of 14 days or the duration of your stay, whichever is shorter, pursuant to EO 20-82.

Everyone else, there is no need to contact us about your existing stay. We are experiencing an extremely high volume of calls, texts, and emails. If you have already submitted an inquiry, please do not submit another one.

At this time, no new reservations will be accepted in Florida from those hot spots determined by the counties for arrival between now and July 3rd"

So just tell them you will “self quarantine” the duration of your stay and then hit the beach? How will they know if you are staying holed up in your condo?

Wow. As if the ban on short-term rentals isn’t bad enough, now they are screwing Louisiana residents who can get around the ban by staying in hotels or who own condos.

Finally was able to get an answer through facebook messenger from Southern Rentals. If you have your reservation id, that seems to be the best option.

Options:
1 - refund but forfeit admin/service fees
2 - change to an Alabama location
3 - remain in Florida but change dates (could result in increase rent)
4 - stay in unit and self-quarantine.

#4 - They will let you stay if you want. Obviously its at your own risk if you go on the beach and a sheriff or some other LEO rolls up on you.

Question - is there even an actual risk in #4?

I doubt it. The La people I know that are in Florida have had no problems on than and old kunt trying to tell one couple that they shouldn't be on the beach.

I guess if someone called you in and you had an overzealous enforcement officer/agency you could have problems, but I doubt they even want to enforce this crap.

If you can cancel or move the trip, I don't see the point of "sneaking" in and hoping nothing happens. I just don't think I'd enjoy myself if the whole time there was a smallest possibility of being hassled.

I MUCH prefer to be in Florida, and we had 2 separate week long trips booked over the next month. However, I'll just suck it up and go to Alabama this time.

It's not ideal, but it beats the hell out of work or sitting at home any more.

As long as you aren’t flying LA flags or LSU gear, how would people know where I’m from?

frick IT. I’m going to my Florida vacation on June 5th. This is America damnit!

I agree,
We were given the option to move to Phoenix West 2 in Gulf Shores. There is the possibility we could have no trouble in Florida but as the trip approaches, some certainty on being able to go with no red tape would be nice. I'm just thinking Gulf Shores/Orange Beach will be absolutely packed.

Let me help you out.

I have a home here and own a few rental properties. I live in Louisiana but have Florida plates so I have missed out on the Karen’s stalking out of state plates. With that said, NO ONE, is going to do you anything.

The sheriff actually asked residents to stop calling in reporting people with out of state plates or violations of the rental ban. They are required by law to go out for all the calls. He said it’s a code enforcement issue, not criminal.

If Karen asks where you are from, why are you here, etc. Tell her to frick off or tel her you have been here for a month. Hell, tell the police (if it came to that) you have been here for a month. They don’t know that you didn’t visit friends down in south Florida for a few weeks before making your way back up to the panhandle.
