Paperwork was completed about 3 weeks ago.
Logged in to site, by chance, to find out that I had been conditionally approve NO PAPERWORK OR NOTICE.
Set appt for Nov. good ways out so I will likely show up at the airport for interview and see what happens.

The first time you go through Atlanta and pass the regular check-in line that has about 300 people in it, you'll smile all the way to the front.

To be fair, the precheck line in ATL will be 100+ deep.

For Global Entry if you are conditionally approved and traveling overseas you can do your interview at most of the large U.S. airports when going back through customs on your arrival trip. Definitely plan for a few extra minutes on arrival/departure if you want to do it, but if you are traveling international before Nov it will be way faster and save you a trek to the airport.

I am not a frequent flyer by any means, but I already have a flight booked for this fall and know I will be flying in two more occasions in the early spring with family. That said, I’m just starting to look into the precheck and have a few questions.

1. I read one website that you have to be a frequent flyer on an airline to get a precheck. Is that correct?

2. After submitting an online application, how long does the approval process take? My upcoming flight is a little more than a month away. Could I get approved for precheck in about a months time?

3. I already have purchased my flight tickets for late October. If I were to get approved for precheck before the upcoming flight, could I still go through precheck even though I wasn’t approved when I purchased the tickets? Is there some way to notify the airline once you get approved so that the tickets print out with precheck?

1. No. You can also get free precheck with about a dozen credit cards.

2. After submitting the application you have to go to a place to answer some questions and get fingerprinted. After that it takes less than 10 days to get your ktn or precheck number.

3. Once you get your ktn, you just add it to your reservation.

Went do the “interview” today. 10 minutes or so and not really any questions. Just fingerprint and picture along with payment.

I decided to show up at DFW Intl (no appt) and they would not do the interview....said to do it UPON REENTERING the country w conditional approval or on the date of the scheduled interview.

I learned something new on a flight a couple of months ago. I have precheck but didn’t get it on that flight. I thought they made a mistake by not putting it on my boarding pass but was told that even if you have a current TSA precheck every once in a while they won’t honor it.

Typically if you call the airline customer service, they can add the TSA precheck to your boarding pass if it's not on there originally.

Opt for Global Entry. It’s not much more expensive and includes TSA

Check and make sure your DL is the enhanced one. TSA stopped me and reminded me mine wasn’t last week. Oct 2020 it has to be new one or can’t fly

I'm still waiting for my Global Entry conditional approval. I signed up around Aug 17th and still nothing. I was hoping to do the interview last week on my flight back from Calgary but nope. Maybe on my way back from Germany next month.

Yes. It is somewhat random as to when your spouse gets included. SW almost every time. Just flew Alaska and she didn’t. Suggest applying in person so you get it on the spot. You will never have to wait in line with the proletariat again.

yeah, but the difference is that you don't have to take out electronics, take your shoes off, etc in the precheck line, so even if the line is "long", it is much quicker to get through. plus, you tend to not have the families and the slow old people in the precheck line. makes a huge difference.

All depends on how much you travel. I've had it for years and will tell anyone, it's worth every penny.
