Long story short, a wedding planner didn't file a permit and now the wedding cant take place where it was supposed to.

Looking for a waterfall and less than 8 guests.

I hope in the not short version of this story the wedding planner returns every penny or gets sued.

I'd suggest moving it somewhere else further South in NC . We were bouncing around NC for summer vacation. Murphy or Cashiers were real lax with the outdoor activities. Spent a couple of nights in Asheville and that whole city was basically on Covid-Lockdown.

How about a chapel, or just someones backyard.

Do a nice looking cabin on Airbnb

There is a beautiful arboretum in Asheville that can probably work with you.
Seriously...check it out.

Sorry to hear that.

Depends on how "near" it's got to be to Ashville? 2 hours or less is probably a reasonable goal.

My vote would be Looking Glass in Pisgah or Linville Falls.

I'm working the math.

less than 8 guests. So, like 7, or 6? maybe 5 guests?

Any rate, when I work the figures, it points a conversation that went something like this:

Bride: Hey, I'm swamped with the caterer, the minister, tuxedos, and bridesmaid dresses and travel reservations for our parents and your idiot brother. ALL I need you to take care of is the venue permit.
Groom: Sure honey. I'm on it.

(2 months later)
Bride: Hey, did you remember the permit?
Groom: Permit? Uhhhh, yeah, right. Yes, of course. I called them, they said it was too soon to issue the permit. (groom makes mental note -- find out where to get this permit thing)

(2 months later)
Bride: The caterer just called and said that they must have a copy of the venue permit before they will deliver food. I need you to email them a copy.
Groom: awww fack!!!

Anyway, good luck on the nuptials.
